Hi, this is Tteonyurimom. Summer's basically over but I'm still craving makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles), haha. Today I visited the Seongnam Arts Center — my mom had an exhibition there!! And on the way, a Migeum Station restaurant with amazing makguksu, plus perilla oil noodles and a pancake — I went to Samiri Makguksu. The makguksu was so good my mom and I couldn't stop raving about it.

Parking and waiting at Samiri Makguksu

Samiri Makguksu's Migeum branch does have parking!! The owner topped it up for an hour. This place usually has a wait — they open at 11am and we arrived diligently at 11:30, haha.

Handwritten waiting list outside the restaurant

Luckily we got in without waiting~.~ If you do need to wait, you write your name down by hand like this.

There are so many good restaurants near Migeum Station, but the owner at Samiri Makguksu is especially kind. He kind of made me miss my grandpa.

The owner said we could have warm buckwheat tea or cold barley tea, haha. He was genuinely so kind, it made the whole visit better.

How big is the large bibim makguksu (16,000 won)?

We ordered the large spicy mixed makguksu (비빔막국수 곱배기) for ₩16,000. My mom and I debated between getting two bowls of makguksu or noodles plus a pancake — but since we were both starving, we just went for the large size of the mixed noodles.

The spicy mixed makguksu arrived!! They also have perilla oil noodles and plain water-broth noodles, both with great reviews. But we went with the spicy mixed version — because it comes with broth on the side too.

I was genuinely shocked by the size... it's basically a mixing bowl. Thank you for such a generous portion, seriously ㅠㅠㅠㅠ On top there's cucumber and radish salad with sesame seeds sprinkled all over. I love sesame seeds, so that's a win for me.

Is the shrimp and chive pancake worth 13,000 won?

We also ordered the shrimp chive pancake (새우부추전) for ₩13,000. Honestly the potato pancake sounded great too, but after a lot of back and forth we went with the chive one. My mom and I love every kind of jeon (Korean pancake), so it was a tough call... but the chive pancake was so nutty and delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ. I love thin pancakes and this one was crazy thin.

Here's what we ordered!!

  • Large spicy mixed makguksu ₩16,000
  • Shrimp chive pancake ₩13,000

A whole spread, and even the side kimchi was clean-tasting and delicious. With the egg and seasoned soy sauce — perfect.

What the house-made buckwheat noodles taste like

Samiri Makguksu's Migeum branch also makes its own noodles, and the buckwheat noodles were genuinely clean-tasting, soft, and easy to digest. So many places make their own noodles these days, but this one lives up to its reputation — truly a Migeum Station favorite. We got there early for lunch thinking it would be quiet, but nope — right at noon, customers just kept pouring in. Definitely lives up to the hype.

They mix the noodles perfectly!!!! The seasoning is just right, and mustard and vinegar are available on the table so you can add them to taste.

There were bits of delicious chili and dried shrimp mixed in, giving a nice crunch — the pancake was super thin and really tasty. Clean-tasting and great, plus the handmade soy sauce that comes with it!! The best.

They also gave us broth on the side, served not in a regular bowl but something like a brass bowl, which kept it cold the whole time~.~ I love that kind of detail.

Wrapping the pancake with the noodles was so good too. And the young cabbage kimchi-like side dish? It's clean-tasting and nutty. It's not overly fermented, so it tastes a bit tangy right away but mild overall — pairs perfectly with the makguksu.

What to order at Samiri Makguksu next time

On the way out I spotted the potato pancake — 100% pure potato, apparently, and it looked so good. I really wanted to try the perilla oil noodles too ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ — potato pancake plus makguksu sounds like the ultimate combo. Oh, and apparently their tteok mandu-guk (rice cake and dumpling soup) is great too. I saw a lot of people eating it today!! Next time I'm trying that.

Parking's available, takeout's available, and while there's a wait at lunch, I'm someone who believes in fighting heat with heat — makguksu doesn't need to wait for a season. I had such a delicious meal of pancake and noodles at Samiri Makguksu, a great restaurant near Migeum Station. On top of that, the owner is super kind with such a warm face — honestly made me miss my grandpa ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Such a lovely presence!!!!! If you're looking for a great restaurant near Migeum Station, this is a perfect lunch spot — go check out Samiri Makguksu!!
