A house-made noodle shabu kalguksu spot in Munhyeon-dong — "Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu"

I love clear shabu-shabu too, but there are days when only red shabu-shabu with kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) will do. That day I was craving a rich, spicy broth deeply infused with beef, with slightly thickened noodles in it — so I finally visited Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu with my parents, a big place I'd always been curious about since it always looked packed whenever I passed by.
Where is Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, and what are its hours?

- ⏰ Open daily, 11:00–20:50 (last order 20:00), weekday break time 15:00–16:00

The storefront and how to find the parking lot

I often pass under Munhyeon Overpass on the bus, and every time I'd see this big Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu sign along the road and wonder about it — always so crowded. The place is huge, so it really stands out!
There were chairs set up out front for waiting if there's a line, and parking is at the Daerim City Plaza underground lot — you have to go around behind the entrance to find it. The entrance was a bit confusing; the ramp going up is not the plaza's parking lot. Of the two entrances, take the one going down to the underground lot! Parking is free for 2 hours, then ₩900 per 30 minutes after that.
Inside Yunujae: group seating and baby chairs

We arrived right around last-order time, so it was quiet. The table next to us was asked by staff, "Why's it so quiet today?" — apparently it's usually packed, but it's still hot out so it's the slower season. (The empty table shot is because we were the last customers and the place had emptied out.)
The interior was surprisingly clean and upscale...! The tables were spaced generously, and the group seating for 8 looked completely doable, so it seemed like a great spot for a work lunch or family gathering.
There was even this in the middle of the restaurant 💧 and baby chairs too! Most of the other customers that day were families as well.

There's a self-serve corner by the counter with diced radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and extra broth ready to go. Water is self-serve too — just grab it from the fridge next to it.

We grabbed the kimchi from the self-serve bar and tried it — it was really good! A kimchi standout! Exactly the kind of slightly un-fermented, fresh kimchi taste I love 😋 Yunujae makes its kimchi in-house using domestic (Korean-grown) cabbage! With Chinese-grown kimchi everywhere these days, house-made kimchi from domestic cabbage is a rare find these days.. 🥹

House-made noodles pulled right beside the counter
I had no idea this was a house-made-noodle place, but when the food came out, the kalguksu noodles looked so good I thought, huh, what is this — and my mom pointed out, "They're pulling the noodles right over there!!" Sure enough, a staff member was kneading and pulling dough right next to the counter. The smell of a hidden Munhyeon-dong gem..

So I went over to check it out for a bit.. hahaha. No wonder the noodles looked so special. Shabu kalguksu made with noodles pulled minutes before — how could it not be delicious.
Menu and prices, plus the receipt review event

Shabu Kalguksu is ₩11,000 per person — sirloin 70g + vegetables (minari, water dropwort) and mushrooms + kalguksu noodles + fried rice. Choice of red or white broth, and spice level can be adjusted.

I hadn't noticed the receipt review sign at the counter — but if you leave a receipt review, they give you a whole extra serving of sirloin!! Make sure you claim it, everyone ㅠㅠ Each table has instructions on the best way to eat everything, and my dad read it more carefully than anyone, hahaha, and followed every step.
Dinner for three with my parents at Yunujae
~ What we ordered ~ Red-broth shabu kalguksu, regular spice, ₩11,000 × 3, plus added sirloin (140g) for ₩8,000

Each table comes set with paper cups, plates, and soy sauce dip ready to use freely. The instructions say to boil the kalguksu for 5 minutes, and there's a 5-minute sand timer provided, plus a rubber band for a thoughtful touch! And the utensils come out soaking in hot water, sterilized — my mom really liked that and told me to definitely take a photo for the blog..
Enter the shabu kalguksu 🫢

A red spicy broth loaded with minari and mushrooms, beautifully colored meat, plus the noodles and fried rice ♡

So this is the kalguksu noodle I mentioned earlier that looked so special.. so this is where they pull it fresh, right there — house-made noodles on a completely different level 🗯️

The broth was truly loaded with minari and mushrooms!! And the shabu-shabu meat looked great at a glance. I never had a go-to spot in Munhyeon-dong — now I've found one.. 🥹

Loading in plenty of meat to make the broth even tastier. Once the beef broth deepens, it just gets more and more delicious.

The ingredients were seriously generous. So much minari that the broth was filled with its aroma — so good. At ₩11,000 per person, that's really great value.. ♥︎
Cooking the beef in the bubbling broth, then dipping it with minari and mushrooms in a little soy sauce — pure bliss - ★ The meat texture was also super tender! Some shabu-shabu places have meat that's dry or tough, but here it was tender and delicious. The broth wasn't heavy either — clean, and at regular spice level it wasn't spicy at all, yet had that tangy, savory kick.. ! Just seriously good

Is the extra sirloin worth ordering?
So we added extra meat haha. Like most shabu kalguksu places, the base meat portion is a little on the light side if you don't add more. For two people, one serving of shabu kalguksu plus one meat add-on would probably be just right. And if you do the review event, they give you an extra meat serving, so definitely take part!
The house-made kalguksu noodles we waited for
Finally, the kalguksu I'd been waiting for.. the look of the noodles had me so excited I ate it fast, haha. And it really was exactly as expected — the noodles were insane.. so chewy and springy, fully cooked but with zero of that undercooked, hard feeling.. !!!! The kalguksu was so, so, so good.. that flavor of noodles dropped into broth that's been simmering and deepening with beef, going slightly thick !!!!!! Just knockout good

Finishing the pot with fried rice
And honestly? The fried rice here was good too.. a faint hint of minari aroma, sesame oil fragrance drifting up, and since the broth itself was so good, that savory depth carried right through — amazing. We didn't manage the broth ratio well so ours got a bit porridge-like and runny, so definitely control the broth amount if you go.. (still delicious though ㅠㅠ)
My parents' verdict on Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu
Mom: "We should have our next gathering here." Dad: "I'm bringing the staff here for lunch tomorrow."
When your parents approve, that's really all you need to know, right..? From start to finish, one good bite after another after another. Confirmed: a top shabu kalguksu spot in Busan 🤤 Strongly recommend this as a place to eat in Munhyeon-dong! And the owner and staff were incredibly kind... my mom kept saying how friendly everyone was and how good it made her feel ♡
