Haengdang-dong pork belly BBQ with janchi-guksu refills: Pujutgan

In short

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a pork belly restaurant in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong, Seoul, a five-minute walk from Wangsimni Station Exit 10, where staff grill the meat on a cast-iron cauldron lid. Four friends met here for a wedding-invitation dinner and ordered 2 servings of pork belly, 2 of pork jowl and 1 of pork neck, then added janchi-guksu (warm noodle soup), mul-naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) from the unlimited side menu. The meat is not cheap, but with the free sides Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is good value and worth a return visit.

Today I visited a pork belly spot near Wangsimni Station in Haengdang-dong, Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom. This was another engagement dinner meetup, and the place is famous for letting you eat unlimited sides — doenjang-jjigae, kimchi-jjigae, mul-naengmyeon, bibim-naengmyeon, jatjguksu, nurungji — as long as you order meat for everyone at the table. No wonder it's packed with guests of all ages, it's genuinely one of the go-to pork belly spots in Haengdang-dong!

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a 5-minute walk from Wangsimni Station Exit 10, so it was easy to get to. The storefront stands out, so neither I nor my friends had any trouble finding it.

Inside Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom and the cast-iron cauldron lid grill

The interior is spacious and the air conditioning was blasting, so it felt comfortable inside. When I visited, over 70% of the tables were full haha, so I only photographed our table. Since we'd reserved ahead, the basic setup was already in place — and the grill itself is a cast-iron cauldron lid!

Kimchi and mushrooms grilled in the meat fat. I can't even imagine how good kimchi tastes grilled on a cauldron lid lol.

What is on the menu at Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom and how much does it cost?

The menu at Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom has both Korean beef and pork. A serving of pork belly is on the pricier side, but when the sides are unlimited... this price actually feels reasonable haha. Maybe that's why so many older guests order drinks alongside the side dishes lol.

Plate of thick-cut raw pork belly
Two servings of raw pork jowl set on the table

Pork belly and pork jowl, 2 servings each: how thick are the cuts?

The pork belly (2 servings) and pork jowl (2 servings) we ordered. The meat comes out thick. Probably because it needs to hold up on the cauldron lid? I personally prefer this thickness since it gives you something to chew on haha.

The meat sizzling away on the cauldron lid. Three stages of transformation from raw to perfectly cooked. Staff grill it for you, so no worries there — just relax, chat, and watch the meat cook.

Doenjang-jjigae served as a side dish

The doenjang-jjigae that came out first as a side. I meant to photograph the stew when it first arrived but forgot because we were busy talking about the wedding. We weren't even meeting after ages apart, but somehow all the chatting kept making me forget to take pictures.

Meat and grilled kimchi wrapped in lettuce and perilla leaves

Living it up with lettuce and perilla leaves wrapped around meat and grilled kimchi. Ah, the kimchi grilled in pork fat is so good.

It felt too soon to stop, so we also ordered a serving of pork neck.

Bowl of unlimited jatjguksu noodle soup

Unlimited sides at Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom: janchi-guksu and mul-naengmyeon

We also ordered jatjguksu, one of the unlimited side menu items! Warm, refreshing anchovy broth with well-boiled thin wheat noodles — so good. It's unlimited refills, but the quality doesn't drop at all. It's about as good as the jatjguksu you'd find at a traditional market, so anyone who loves noodles must order this!

Mul-naengmyeon ordered by a friend

This is the mul-naengmyeon my friends ordered next to me. Cold noodles that cool you right down in front of the hot grill! The broth is refreshing with great depth of flavor. A lot of people order the naengmyeon too haha.

Is Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom worth it? Final verdict

✔️Unlimited sides, a Haengdang-dong pork belly restaurant where you can eat until you're full — Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom. The biggest draw is that ordering meat per person gets you unlimited sides, and while the meat isn't cheap, factoring in the sides makes it good value! Plus the cast-iron cauldron lid system makes eating easy and the meat quality is good, so I think I'll come back for pork belly again!
