Jamsilsaenae hair salon scalp treatment after a run: Only For You

In short

Only For You Jamsilsaenae Branch is a 200㎡ (60-pyeong) hair salon in Songpa, Seoul, a 3-5 minute walk from Exit 4 of Jamsilsaenae Station. On a day when scalp heat after running was bothering the writer, Designer Q at Only For You worked through a full scalp care routine — diagnosis, aroma, scaling, steam, shampoo massage and a scalp pack — then trimmed only the ends of a bob that is being grown out. The scalp felt clean and cool afterwards, and the length of the bob stayed almost exactly the same.

I've been running a lot lately and my scalp condition has been bugging me more than before, ugh. On days when I sweat a lot after working out, it feels like there's still heat left on my scalp, and since I'm also growing out my hair, I figured it was time for a trim too — so I got scalp care and a cut done together this time.

I've had a bob for a while now and I'm growing it out, but the ends were feeling heavy and messy, so I decided to get them cleaned up too…

What does Designer Q at Only For You specialise in?

That day I got scalp care and a cut from Designer Q at Only For You Jamsilsaenae Branch. Designer Q specializes in low-maintenance iron perms and layered perms, and runs consultations aimed at finding a personal design that suits each client.

I didn't get a perm this time, but it made me think that next time I do, it'd be worth consulting on what style would suit my hair condition. I heard Designer Q at this Jamsilsaenae hair salon is especially known for jelly perms!!!

Korean scalp care step by step: from scalp diagnosis to the scalp pack

Along with the cut, what I was really looking forward to that day was the scalp care. Since I run often, there are days after working out and sweating a lot when my scalp feels warm. Usually I only pay attention to my hair, but this time I decided to properly take care of my scalp too.

The scalp care at Only For You Jamsilsaenae Branch doesn't start with just applying product — it begins with a scalp diagnosis! First they checked my current scalp condition, then moved on to aroma care.

Scalp diagnosis and aroma care step

After that, they carefully applied a scaling product all over my scalp and did steam, haha — the soak stage >_<

There was a battery issue at one point, but they thoughtfully brought over a portable charger too! With the warm steam, my scalp started feeling really relaxed, and after that they applied a scaling shampoo and did a scalp massage.

I like a shampoo massage with just the right amount of a cool, refreshing feel on the scalp, and that day it was done carefully without being too much, so it felt really comfortable. After moving to the shampoo room, they applied another scalp product and did steam once more — and the shampoo chair was a massage chair, so it was total healing.

From scalp diagnosis to aroma, scaling, steam, shampoo massage, and scalp pack — the process was broken into stages and was more thorough than I expected. By the end, my scalp felt refreshed with no stuffy feeling at all. If you exercise often or sweat a lot, it might be worth checking your scalp condition once in a while and getting the care you actually need!

Growing out a bob: an ends-only trim instead of a layered cut

I actually came in thinking about getting a layered bob cut, but Designer Q told me it would be better to grow the length out a bit more first. To get the layered bob look I actually wanted, the length needed to be a little longer than it currently was, so instead of forcing layers in now, they set a direction of growing my hair out healthily for the time being~!

So that day, they kept the overall length as much as possible while carefully cleaning up the heavy, messy-looking parts right at the ends.

When I told them I was growing my hair out, I really appreciated how they checked everything carefully so the overall shape wouldn't fall apart, even while barely cutting off length. This is a period where even a small cut can noticeably shorten the length, so I tend to care a lot about this when getting a trim!

After the trim, the length stayed almost the same but the ends felt lighter than before and the overall silhouette looked neater. It felt more satisfying because they cut with the next stage in mind, rather than just making it look nice right now.

Final style after both scalp care and cut

Next time, I'm planning to grow it out a bit more and get the layered bob I originally wanted, then naturally move into growing it out further >_< From scalp care to the cut, everything was handled so carefully that it was a satisfying visit. Big recommend for Designer Q at Only For You, this Jamsilsaenae hair salon.
