Dongtan pork cutlet with cumin dip and free parking: Kkot Gatsu
In short
Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a pork cutlet restaurant on Wangbaesan 3-gil in Dongtan, Hwaseong. Arriving at 7:30 on a weekday evening, the premium loin cutlet was already sold out, so the order was the loin cutlet set with hwa-udon plus Kkot Gatsu, an 8-piece tenderloin cutlet, and at the self-serve bar the cumin salt (tzeran) suited the cutlets better than wasabi. With 90 minutes free at the Mokdong public lot about 5 minutes away on foot, driving to Kkot Gatsu is easy too.

I was trying to figure out what to eat for dinner when I remembered my boyfriend recently said he really wanted good pork cutlet, so I looked up pork cutlet spots in Dongtan and ended up at Kkot Gatsu in Mokdong, Dongtan haha

We originally wanted the premium loin cutlet, but we arrived around 7:30pm on a weekday and it was already sold out ㅠㅠ

There was no wait since it was a weekday evening, but it was such a bummer that the premium loin cutlet was gone ㅠㅠ

Instead we ordered the loin cutlet set and the Kkot Gatsu, and the cutlets were so tender and delicious haha
Where to park for Kkot Gatsu in Dongtan Mokdong
If you're driving, I'd recommend parking at the Mokdong public parking lot! That's where we parked too, and since it's 90 minutes free, we had plenty of time to eat slowly without worrying about the clock haha
It's about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to the restaurant, so it wasn't as far as I expected. There was some parking near the restaurant too, but it looked pretty packed since it was dinnertime.. ㅠㅠ
I think it's more comfortable to just park at the Mokdong public lot and walk over!
What is Kkot Gatsu Dongtan like inside?
The interior at Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is all wood-toned, so it felt cozy and was a nice atmosphere for talking while eating haha

We chatted about this and that while eating slowly with my boyfriend, and the calm vibe was really nice~

There's a self-serve bar near the entrance!

There were several sauces like lemon salt, truffle salt, and wasabi, but I was surprised to see tzeran (cumin seasoning) too. I'd never dipped pork cutlet in tzeran before, so I was curious if it would actually taste good haha
What to order at Kkot Gatsu: loin cutlet set and Kkot Gatsu tenderloin

We ordered the loin cutlet set that comes with Kkot Gatsu and hwa-udon~ At first I thought pork cutlet plus udon would be a lot of food, but once we started eating, having the hwa-udon there actually turned out to be a good thing.
The hwa-udon broth was on the spicy side.

When you keep eating pork cutlet, the fried batter can start to feel a bit greasy partway through, but the spicy hwa-udon broth kept cutting through that in between bites.

My boyfriend ended up mixing rice into the udon broth at the end lol. Watching him eat like that made me think he was really enjoying it… and honestly, since the broth was spicy, mixing rice into it seemed like a great idea.
Honest review of the loin cutlet set and the tenderloin Kkot Gatsu

The loin cutlet was exactly my style. Loin cutlet usually comes with some fat attached at the edge, but here it was mostly lean meat, so it was light and delicious.

I'm not really a fan of fat, so I usually trim it off, but I didn't need to do that here, which I liked~

Kkot Gatsu is a tenderloin cutlet, and it came out as 8 pieces so the portion was solid too, and the meat was so tender! It was so moist and soft that it would've been fine even without sauce.

I usually like dipping pork cutlet in wasabi, but dipping it in truffle salt worked really well too.
Best dip at Kkot Gatsu: cumin salt over wasabi
But honestly, the tastiest sauce was the tzeran at the self-serve bar lol

I tried dipping the cutlet in tzeran and it went together way better than I expected. That distinctive tzeran aroma with the light, lean meat completely changed the feel from the pork cutlet I usually eat. My boyfriend tried a bite too and said it was good, then kept dipping it in tzeran the whole time haha

I usually love the wasabi combo the most, but that day the tzeran combo was even better, I think.
Premium loin cutlet sold out: go earlier to Kkot Gatsu Dongtan
This time we visited late, so it was such a shame the premium loin cutlet was sold out~

The loin cutlet and Kkot Gatsu were both light and tasty, but missing out on the limited premium loin cutlet was disappointing, so next time I want to come a bit earlier and try it haha

And I'll definitely dip the cutlet in tzeran again then too~~
