Dongtan solo lunch pork cutlet with lemon salt and wasabi: Kkot Gatsu
In short
Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a Japanese pork cutlet restaurant near the Mokdong apartment complexes in Dongtan, Hwaseong. On a weekday visit at 1pm, solo dining worked fine: the deungkkotcheu (loin and tenderloin cutlet combo) costs 20,500 won and came with a zero-sugar cola, and of the lemon salt, truffle salt and wasabi on the tray, lemon salt plus wasabi was the best pairing. The tenderloin cutlet at Kkot Gatsu was among the softest anywhere, making a return visit certain.

I was out exploring a few spots around Dongtan for the first time in a while, and lunchtime hit just as I was getting hungry, so I stopped by Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch for a delicious meal.

Inside Kkot Gatsu: the room and how the waiting list works

The restaurant sits on the corner of the building, with a wood exterior that made it easy to spot.

There are waiting seats both outside and inside! Instead of reservations, they use an on-site registration system through a CatchTable kiosk at the entrance. Even if there's a wait, you can sit comfortably while you wait.

The space is quite spacious, and the wood tones paired with soft lighting made for a really nice atmosphere. The tables are spaced well apart and there's a baby chair too, so it seemed like a great spot for solo dining, family meals, or hanging out with friends.

There was no wait when I visited around 1pm on a weekday, but watching empty seats fill up continuously made me realize this place is popular with the Dongtan Mokdong apartment complex crowd 👀💖
Since I was dining solo that day, I took a two-person seat by the window!
The menu at Kkot Gatsu and the 20,500-won deungkkotcheu

From the cheese cutlet, limited to 20 servings a day, to half-and-half combos (loin+cheese, cheese+tenderloin, loin+tenderloin), I loved having so many options!

Deungkkotcheu (loin + tenderloin cutlet, 20,500 won) + zero-sugar cola (2,000 won) — I went with the deungkkotcheu so I could enjoy both loin and tenderloin at once.

The menu noted they use top-grade Korean pork, so I was already looking forward to it before the food even arrived...!

Lemon salt, truffle salt or wasabi: which pairing wins?
At the bottom of the tray, lemon salt, truffle salt, and wasabi are served together. The menu even says they taste better paired with the cutlet, so I tried each combination one by one 🫢

The classic tonkatsu sauce had a clean, standard flavor, and a touch of wasabi cut through the richness completely.

The soft yellow lemon salt was refreshing, and the truffle salt had deep flavor that went well with the cutlet too.
But most of all, the tenderloin cutlet was so soft. Can you see the juicy cross-section? T_T Among all the tenderloin cutlets I've had, this was one of the softest — so satisfying!

Personally, lemon salt plus wasabi together was the best combo!
What the self-serve bar at the entrance holds

The self-serve bar is set up near the entrance, and it was so neatly organized that my trust in the place's cleanliness shot right up ✨

Every sauce was neatly labeled and easy to find, and the self-packaging containers were pre-folded and ready to use — you could tell they'd thought about making things convenient for guests!

I grabbed the lemon salt that suited my taste perfectly, plus some pickles that weren't part of the standard side dishes.

The pickles went really well with it too...💖

On my way out, full and happy, I noticed photos and signatures from celebrity visitors on one of the walls 👀
Is solo dining easy at Kkot Gatsu? Plus a free parking tip
Seeing customers keep coming in even after 1pm on a weekday, past peak time, confirmed this really is a Dongtan favorite 🫢ㅋㅋㅋ The staff were kind too, which made the meal even more pleasant. This time I enjoyed the deungkkotcheu on its own, but next time I'd love to try the spicy hwa-udon set or the cool cold soba set for a lighter finish.
Parking tip: the nearby side streets are often full, so I'd recommend heading straight for the Dongtan 2 Mokdong public parking lot from the start! It's just a 2-minute walk from the restaurant, and the free 90-minute parking meant I didn't have to worry about paying — super convenient.
I left Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch with a strong urge to come back, and if you're ever in the area, I'd definitely recommend stopping by.
