Euljiro3-ga dinner date with two risottos ordered: Pyu Euljiro
In short
Pyu Euljiro is a contemporary dining restaurant 3 minutes from Exit 11 of Euljiro3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Over mackerel pasta and garden tomato risotto with her boyfriend, the writer found the portions a little short and ordered a truffle mushroom risotto on top, while the next table was mid blind date and another was planning a wedding invitation. Between the food and the mood, Pyu Euljiro felt like a solid pick for anniversaries and blind dates alike.

My boyfriend and I wanted to hit up a pasta spot in Euljiro that we hadn't tried yet, and that's how we found this new dining restaurant!!
One side of the room was a wedding invitation gathering, the other side a blind date — this is the kind of place you'd be satisfied bringing anyone for an anniversary date.

What the atmosphere was like
The moment you walk in there's this oddly comforting feeling. Apparently the name PHEW came from the sound of letting out a sigh of relief. That release you feel undoing one button of a too-tight shirt, or the sound that slips out when you sink into a soft couch at home — PHEW💨

High ceilings gave it a nice open feeling, and the soft chairs with wide gaps between tables made it easy to focus on conversation.

If you make a reservation, they put your name up on the table like this — that kind of detail made me happy.
Menu lineup

Food menu
An essential dining menu that brings out the natural flavor of the ingredients! They said they use steaming and smoking on seasonal ingredients to bring out each one's own flavor.

Mackerel pasta, garden tomato risotto, charcoal-grilled octopus with romesco... everything looked so pretty and delicious plated that I agonized over the choice for a while.

Drinks menu
If you come for dinner, ordering one alcoholic drink menu item per person is required (non-alcoholic drinks don't count). There are cocktails that describe nature scenes, like a cabin in the woods or a window at sunset, and if you visit during the day there's fresh-pressed juice too, which seems nice to enjoy.

Set menu
There's a set menu for two as well, so if you want to try a variety of dishes, check out the set.
What we ordered

My boyfriend isn't a big drinker so he ordered the Bergamore (non-alcoholic), and I ordered the lager Cheongdam-dong Myeoneuri ("Cheongdam-dong Daughter-in-Law").

In England I always only reached for Guinness... I don't drink much beer in Korea so I'm no expert, but this one was really smooth and delicious.

Mackerel pasta (₩30,000)
An oil pasta topped with marinated mackerel — there's a subtle spicy note, and the tender mackerel steak blends in so well that one bite got an immediate gasp out of me.

Garden tomato risotto (₩25,000)
A tomato risotto topped with a bit of various grilled vegetables and mozzarella cheese. The rice had that pop-in-your-mouth texture, and it reminded me of a persillade-style risotto I've always liked. Not too heavily seasoned, nicely soft, with the grilled vegetables adding to the flavor.

My boyfriend and I gasped our way through both dishes and finished them feeling a little short-changed. The portions weren't huge, and they were so good that we wanted to try one more, so I picked up the menu again.

Truffle mushroom risotto (₩26,000)
Trying to decide what to add, and since risotto was so clearly our thing, we went with the truffle risotto. Made with a rich, thick button mushroom cream soup as the base for the risotto — it was extremely, extremely delicious. That's really the best way I can put it...
Final verdict

Taste: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (we ordered an extra dish)
Atmosphere: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (kept gasping the whole time)
The food was great, but the atmosphere was so good I wanted to come back right away. The tables around us were all wedding invitation gatherings, blind dates, or anniversary dates too. Isn't that basically the definition of a place that's nailed both mood and taste..!??
If you're wondering where to go for a blind date, a wedding invitation meetup, or an anniversary, I'd highly recommend Pyu Euljiro. I'm confident you'll get told you have great taste by whoever you bring along haha.
