This is oranda I liked so much that I snacked on it whenever my mouth felt bored the whole trip, and even gave some as gifts.

Why the 9-piece bags made a great car snack

The square oranda comes neatly scored into exactly 9 pieces per bag, so it's easy to eat and you don't have to cut it yourself, which meant no crumbs falling like a regular cracker. Whenever my energy dipped while traveling I'd eat one piece at a time in the car, and I loved that no crumbs fell 😁 Fully recommend this as a Jeju Dongmun Market souvenir 👍🙂

Trying the gwajul: not too sweet, nutty flavor

There's also a version with a hangwa (traditional Korean confection) feel, and when I looked curious, the owner cut a piece for me to try 😉

The owner of Cheongchuni Oranda Dongmun Market Main Branch Tapdong was so kind. There's a common stereotype that oranda and gwajul are super sweet and sticky, clinging to your teeth, right? But the gwajul here is made not too sweet, so it tasted nutty and savory 😊 It seemed perfect to gift to people who prefer mild flavors or dislike sweets — I personally wanted something sweeter, so I bought the oranda instead.

Usually when you try to sample something, owners give you a look and don't like it, but this owner actively encouraged customers to try a taste — and most people who tried ended up buying 😊

Colorful donut-shaped oranda

Aren't these colorful oranda so cute? Fun to look at, fun to eat, and they kind of look like cute little donuts — seems great for gifting a mixed assortment too.

While I was in line to buy, some elementary school kids came up and pulled out their own money to buy one each 😃

My personal flavor ranking: nut > marong (garlic) > yuzu

Last time I visited, I bought one of these bundled packs, gifted some to my coworkers, and kept some as my own snack. My personal ranking of tastiest to least is nut > marong (garlic) > yuzu. It's great with coffee too, and nice to snack on whenever your mouth feels bored 😊
