Weekday afternoon salt bread 3+1 at KINTEX mall bakery: Boulangerie
In short
Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX is a bakery on the basement food floor of the Hyundai KINTEX branch in Goyang, Gyeonggi, known from its original Paju Unjeong shop. On a quiet weekday afternoon the shelves were still full, with a salt bread 3+1 deal running and picks like a chocolate cream salt bread, chocolate baguette, and raspberry matcha cornet pie. Sweet and healthy breads side by side, it's an easy stop for a mixed haul.

The famous Paju Unjeong bakery is also inside Hyundai KINTEX in Goyang
Turns out Boulangerie Tan, the famous bakery from Paju Unjeong village, has a branch inside the Hyundai Department Store KINTEX in Goyang too! I was so curious what these healthy-feeling breads made with organic flour and premium French butter would taste like.

It's tucked among the food stalls on the basement floor. The Hyundai Ilsan food hall already has plenty of well-known spots and hosts pop-ups from famous dessert brands often, so I figured having a shop here was proof enough of quality.

Go on a weekday early afternoon and everything's still there
I went on a weekday early afternoon (around 1-2 pm) and most of the bakery items were still fully stocked. Apparently things sell out faster on weekends, so if you want a wide selection, move fast :)

Lescure AOP butter and origin labeling
Butter is really the heart of baking, and they use premium Lescure AOP butter, so of course it's going to be delicious!

And the rest of the ingredients had clear origin labeling too, which felt trustworthy.

So what kind of bread do they have?
There are really so many kinds of bakery items here. From healthy breads like ciabatta, sourdough, and baguettes to salt bread sandwiches, and sweet cookies and pies.

The cornet pie in particular caught my eye since it's not a bakery item I'm familiar with. Inside the crispy-looking pie shell packed with various fillings, it looked so delicious :)

The 4 breads I picked
I really wanted to grab everything here, but I held back and my final picks were...

- French baguette
- Chocolate cream salt bread
- Signature chocolate baguette
- Raspberry matcha cornet pie
Sweet breads and healthy breads, all cozied up together in my arms — happily heading home now, pitter patter.

Chocolate cream salt bread – sweet and salty perfection
In the car on the way home, I couldn't wait and tore into the chocolate cream salt bread. Crispy-chewy salt bread packed with chocolate cream all the way to the ends, plus a chocolate coating on the outside... so sweet and salty, so irresistible. Definitely recommend it when you're seriously craving sugar!!!

Raspberry matcha cornet pie – good for gifting too
Another sweet treat! The cornet pie has an upscale dessert taste, so it seems perfect for packing into a gift box for someone. The matcha flavor was strong and delicious.

Chocolate baguette and French baguette
Last but not least, the chocolate baguette turned out to be a healthier level of sweet than expected, so it never felt cloying and was really enjoyable. I could see why it's this shop's signature! I'm planning to freeze the French baguette and use it to make pasta at home~~
