Whenever I'm craving good meat, I always end up here — Haean Sutbul Galbi, a Gwangalli pork rib restaurant where you can enjoy quality raw ribs and handmade marinated ribs together.

It's near Gwangalli Beach, so it's a perfect stop on a route that includes checking out the sea.

This Gwangalli pork rib restaurant catches your eye from far away with its retro exterior.

Out front stands a huge sign displaying photos of the signature menu — premium raw ribs, handmade marinated ribs, and even grilled tail. I saw this sign before entering, and my mouth started watering, building anticipation before I even walked in.
Inside Haean Sutbul Galbi: tables and the private room
Inside, a full-on retro interior welcomes you — a vibe that fits today's trends perfectly. Even the floor and chairs show careful attention to detail, giving you the feeling of stepping back in time.

Inside, there are plenty of table seats that are comfortable and spacious.

There's also one room-style space where you can dine privately, useful depending on the occasion.

Each table has a tablet conveniently installed for ordering — you just pick from the menu photos.

Beside each table, small plates, wet wipes, water cups, and glasses are neatly arranged for use as needed.

The part that impressed me most before the meal even started was the utensil handling. The spoons and chopsticks aren't just served as-is — they're disinfected in hot water first. With hygiene being such a priority these days, this thoughtful touch really scored major points from a customer's perspective.
The starter spread at Haean Sutbul Galbi, japchae included
After much deliberation, I ordered 2 servings of raw pork ribs and 1 serving of marinated pork ribs. As soon as I ordered, a variety of side dishes arrived.

The basic table setting includes japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), lettuce wraps, scallion salad, pickled onions, doenjang (soybean paste), garlic, mu-saengchae (spicy radish salad), mul-kimchi (water kimchi), salad, gat-kimchi pickle, spicy seasoned pepper, salt, soy sauce, and spicy sauce — quite the lineup. I especially loved that japchae came as a basic side dish. It's a dish that takes a lot of effort to make at home, so it was nice to get to enjoy a warm serving of it as a default banchan at a restaurant.
What we ordered: 2 raw pork rib servings, 1 marinated, mul-milmyeon and drinks
At Haean Sutbul Galbi, we had 2 servings of raw pork ribs and 1 serving of marinated pork ribs, with a side of mul-milmyeon and some drinks. The meat arrives, along with potatoes and mushrooms served alongside it.

You have to grill the raw meat first before the marinated meat, so when you're ready for the marinated ribs, just ask them to swap the grill plate.

I grilled the raw ribs on the plate until golden, dipped a piece in salt, and took a bite — it melted in my mouth.

I wrapped fresh lettuce around meat and scallion salad and enjoyed it as a wrap,

then had them swap the plate for the marinated version and put on the handmade marinated ribs.

The free grilled pig tail from the review event
On top of that, participating in the review event running at the time gave us a free serving of tail. We grilled it alongside the marinated ribs, and the chewy texture was still very much alive — great to chew on, and it really felt like a collagen boost!

How to wrap marinated pork ribs in icy mul-milmyeon noodles
As the sweet, savory smell of the marinated ribs spread and I watched them cook over the fire, I immediately ordered the side mul-milmyeon.

Topping the icy mul-milmyeon with freshly grilled marinated ribs and eating them together — this was paradise...

The sweet, tender flavor of the marinated ribs blended with the tangy, refreshing broth of the milmyeon, and I just kept eating.

Dipping generously into the spicy sauce and soy sauce as well, I ended up feeling completely full.

If you're looking for a great pork rib restaurant in Gwangalli, give Haean Sutbul Galbi a try. Recommended!
