Cheonan café for almond cream coffee and flan: Brewers Coffee

After a satisfying lunch, we headed to the Sinbu-dong food alley for a little palate cleanser. I was craving the pairing of sweet baked treats and a cool Americano, so my husband and I visited Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch.

Where is Brewers Coffee, and what about parking?

It is 500 m from Shinsegae Department Store, so it took only about three minutes on foot. It is right beside Sinbu 4 Public Parking Lot, which made it easy to find.

There is no dedicated parking, so you will need to use a nearby public lot. Sinbu 4 and 5 Public Parking Lots offer free parking for the first 30 minutes. They do not provide separate parking vouchers, and the roads in the food alley are narrow, so walking over to have a look around, as we did, is more convenient.

A calm black-toned exterior

The neat, upscale exterior in black tones immediately caught my eye. Its dark palette gave off such a calm mood even in the alley that it was easy to spot at a glance.

There are outdoor terrace seats as well, and they looked perfect for sitting outside when the weather is cool.

The seating atmosphere inside

Inside, it was not especially spacious, but it was decorated with an antique feel. Most of the seating consisted of tables ideal for two people. There was a group table near the restroom where several people could sit together, plus a long bar-style table by the entrance.

When we visited on a weekend afternoon, many of the seats were already taken. Luckily, exactly one table was left, so we quickly claimed table 7.

Four coffee and baked-treat picks

Brewers Coffee bakes its French-style treats by hand every morning and offers more than 20 kinds of baked goods each season.

Let me tell you more about the four things we chose.

Brewers Coffee and Americano

Brewers Coffee costs ₩6,500. It is the café's signature cream coffee, generously topped with nutty almond cream. The staff member told us to try the cream on top first, then mix it in! It is on the sweet side, so it pairs wonderfully with an Americano.

The Americano costs ₩4,500. It had a smoky flavor and a nicely weighty body. Taking a sip after the sweet desserts made it the perfect palate cleanser.

Nuntine financier

The Nuntine financier costs ₩3,500. It is a financier recreating the flavor of Nuntine, the familiar pastry snack everyone loves. It was crisp outside and wonderfully chewy within; when we cut it into bite-size pieces, that crisp texture lingered in our mouths. One bite showed me why Brewers Coffee is known for its financiers!

Crème brûlée flan

The crème brûlée flan costs ₩6,000. It is a French-style egg tart generously filled with soft custard cream. True to its crème brûlée name, it was so fun to crack through the thin sugar coating before eating it.

The financier was so excellent that I already want to try a wider range of the other baked treats next time. It is just the spot for anyone looking for a sweet dessert in Cheonan's Sinbu-dong food alley.
