Late-night café in Hapjeong for Colombia Geisha drip: Central Site

In short

Central Site Hapjeong is a specialty roastery café open until 10pm, a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. After smelling scent bottles for eight hand-drip beans, the writer tried Colombia Quebraditas Geisha Washed, Guatemala Entre Volcanes and classic tiramisu, with the Geisha's balance the clear favorite. A great spot for a quiet second stop after dinner.

I found Central Site Hapjeong while looking for a coffee to round off a hearty dinner near Hapjeong Station. Spoiler up front: the hand-drip Colombia Geisha my friend picked made me want to come back for round two—!

The moment I turned into the alley, it caught my eye from far away. A dark alley with just this bright wall of glass lit up — it looked so cool and pretty I walked in like I was hypnotized haha.

There are wooden benches and stools lined up outside too—! We went inside, but on a nice day sitting out there would be so much more atmospheric and lovely ><

Interior with a long window table and round tables

Inside it's mostly a long window table and small round tables, and since it was dinnertime it wasn't crowded, so it was nice to sit quietly. haha

A system where you smell the beans before choosing?

Honestly, I was a bit flustered the moment I saw the menu…! From Panama Geisha to Ethiopia to Colombia, there are over eight hand-drip beans. I'm the type whose decisions take forever when there are too many options, so I stood there agonizing over what to pick ㋛ lol

While I was standing there, staff told me I could press the bottles in front to smell the aroma. I pressed every single one and picked based on that — smelling them first made choosing so much easier-!

Showcase displaying classic, lotus, and brownie tiramisu

The showcase had classic, lotus, and brownie tiramisu lined up in a row. We picked the Classic Tiramisu (₩8,500)!

The roasting area is fully visible behind the counter, so watching the coffee being made right in front of us made the wait fly by- ><

Two hand-drip cups and a tiramisu

  • Guatemala Entre Volcanes ₩8,000
  • Classic Tiramisu ₩8,500
Two hand-drip cups with large ice cubes

I figured hand-drip would take a while, but it came out in about 5 minutes. The cups were pretty too, and with those big whiskey-glass-style ice cubes in them, the coffee never got watered down — the best-!

Coffee cup served with a bean description card

They give you a bean card along with each cup. It tells you which farm it's from and what flavors to expect, and reading it while drinking made the whole thing feel more fun and even more delicious somehow.

Guatemala Entre Volcanes

I picked the Guatemala Entre Volcanes! I saw 'milk chocolate' in the description and just went for it haha. The aroma was exactly that, but the body was much richer than I expected, so it actually tasted even better once the ice melted a bit.

Colombia Quebraditas Geisha Washed

And then my friend's pick, the Colombia Quebraditas. They said it smelled like watermelon, so I stole a sip — and this ended up being my absolute favorite!! Best balance and best aroma of any coffee I've had lately. Crisp, light, and refreshing! It's wild how different the same hand-drip method can taste depending purely on the bean — that's the charm of drip coffee, I guess?

Classic Tiramisu

The tiramisu was the essentials, done right. Soft and moist all over, and it paired perfectly with coffee! The only downside was that the inner sponge layer was a bit too moist, but it was still delicious-!

Tips to know before you order

One tip✨ If you're taking it to go, don't forget the ₩1,000 takeout discount. And if picking a bean feels overwhelming, just ask them to let you smell the bottles first. Smelling is way faster than listening to explanations lol.

A tree blooming with yellow and pink leaves together

On the way out there was a tree blooming with both yellow and pink leaves together — isn't that color combo just adorable? It was so pretty I snapped a photo right away haha.

Final verdict

With so many hand-drip options and a system where you actually smell the beans before choosing, this place let me enjoy coffee on a whole new level-! Thanks to it, I tried a Geisha I never would have picked otherwise, and found a bean I genuinely love. ><

The one letdown was that the inner sponge layer of the tiramisu could've been a bit more moist. The coffee was so good, and it paired well with the tiramisu haha.

This place is especially great for a quiet second stop after dinner when you just want to sit and sip coffee. It's open until 10pm, and it's not noisy, so it's easy to talk — perfect for a late-evening coffee-!
