Seoul Forest restaurant for seafood fritters: Billadeubeulleu Seongsu
In short
Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a Western-style restaurant with a Spanish-resort feel, a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Seoul Forest Station in Seongdong, Seoul. On a clear day the terrace seats were the pick, and the order was polpo mambo (grilled octopus), truffle gnocchi and seafood fritters: the octopus crisp outside and tender inside, the gnocchi cream sauce thick, the fritter batter thin and crunchy. Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is dog-friendly and has an unlimited sparkling wine option, so it works well as a Seoul Forest date course.

The storefront and the menu board outside

Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is about a 5-minute walk from Seoul Forest Exit 5. It's a well-known Seoul Forest pasta spot and brunch place.

You can check the menu from outside. If you haven't decided what to eat, this is a good way to decide! Billadeubeulleu seems to have a cheese-bomb lasagna as its signature — there was a big picture of it out front. We didn't order it this time, but it's something I want to try next time we come as a group or revisit. Definitely a certified Seongsu favorite.

True to its name, Billadeubeulleu's interior has blue accents throughout. There are quite a few outdoor seats too, which seemed like a great option on a nice day. Since the weather was good the day we visited, we sat on the terrace!

Indoor seats and the Spanish-resort atmosphere

Not just the outdoor space but the interior is also neat and well laid out. It was packed with lunch customers, but emptied out as time went on! With seating from 2-tops to 4-tops, it seems like a good spot for various kinds of gatherings.

The space really carries the exotic feel of a Spanish resort town. Thanks to the tasteful interior and its distinctly lively atmosphere, the moment you step through the door it feels like a little rush of excitement, as if you've traveled to a resort city in Spain. Stylish yet warm décor pieces mingle with exotic lighting to give a special feeling of escaping the everyday. It's an appealing place to relax comfortably with good food.

One thing that surprised me while looking around inside — you can get unlimited sparkling wine for the price of one glass! Isn't that an amazing option... We had plans afterward so we skipped it, but for anyone who loves drinking, this has to be the best deal on the menu. Also, Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is dog-friendly. If there were a cute dog in this place too, the vibe would be doubled.

Ordering is done via table order (QR code).

How do the polpo mambo, truffle gnocchi and seafood fritters taste?

We ordered the polpo mambo, truffle gnocchi, and seafood fritters. The table order screen showed photos alongside each menu item, which made ordering easy.
Polpo mambo: grilled octopus, crisp outside and tender inside
The octopus isn't chewy at all — it's soft enough to bite through easily. The outside is grilled golden and crisp while the inside keeps its moisture. The special sauce served alongside, along with a subtle oil flavor, maximizes the octopus's savory depth. It pairs beautifully with the potato and vegetable garnish too, so you can enjoy it satisfyingly down to the last bite without any heaviness. This dish more than earns its place as the restaurant's signature.
Truffle gnocchi with a thick cream sauce
The moment it's served, the rich truffle aroma wafting up stirs the appetite. The gnocchi dough is grilled golden and crisp on the outside, while the inside keeps the chewy-yet-soft texture of potato. The cream sauce isn't watery — it's thick and coats the gnocchi densely. The sauce is seasoned just right, and the luxurious truffle flavor comes through deeply, making it hard to put the spoon down until the very end.
Seafood fritters with thin, crunchy batter
The batter is very thin and crisp, letting the natural springy texture of the seafood come through untouched. The ingredients are fresh with no fishy taste, and their natural sweetness comes through well. The oil is drained well so it stays light and never greasy to the end. Paired with the accompanying tangy sauce or a squeeze of lemon, it's a perfect match for drinks too.
