Where is Sushi Naru in Daemyeong-dong, Daegu?
Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch is a sushi restaurant at 145 Jungang-daero, Nam-gu, Daegu, a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Yeongdae Hospital Station. It's open 11:30-15:00 and closed on Sundays.
I've been trying to eat lighter these days, but I suddenly craved sushi, so I visited Sushi Naru near Yeongdae Hospital in Daemyeong-dong! 🍣 Even though it's a neighborhood sushi spot, the Special Sushi set in particular has a solid lineup and good pricing!
🅿️ Unfortunately there's no parking lot, so I used a nearby paid parking lot.
Inside Sushi Naru: atmosphere and seating
The place is fairly clean, with a long bar counter, window seats, and about 3 tables for two. Each table had utensils, pickled ginger, rakkyo (pickled shallots), and soy sauce, so it was easy to help yourself.

Beyond sushi, there are also lots of side dishes like rice bowls, katsu, salads, udon, and fried items, plus aged sashimi and sake, so it seems like a good place to visit in the evening as a drinking spot too 😌 Especially since the aged sashimi is around 30,000 won, it's got value for money too.
Complimentary mini udon and king prawn tempura
At Sushi Naru, ordering sushi comes with a complimentary mini udon. The noodles were nice and chewy, a good side without being boring. I always hand the noodles over to Eunsu and just drink the broth myself, haha
The prawn tempura wasn't huge but was a good size, and it seemed like they used clean oil — nutty and delicious! It'd be even better to get it through the review event. Definitely join that review event.

Hehe, our sushi arrived! The Special Sushi was the dish I was most looking forward to today! It's the sushi set from the priciest, premium line on Sushi Naru's menu.
The Special Sushi is, as the name suggests, made up of cuts that melt in your mouth. ▪️ There are 2 pieces of flounder, plus 1 piece each of raw salmon, flounder engawa, grilled salmon, akami (lean tuna), red seabream, scallop, uni, otoro, sweet shrimp, soy-marinated shrimp, beef, and freshwater eel. Delicious on top of delicious... 🫰🏻
Which pieces come in the Grilled Assorted Sushi (10 pieces)?
The Grilled Assorted Sushi comes with 2 pieces each of engawa, beef, and freshwater eel, plus 4 pieces of grilled salmon. It's concentrated on ingredients that taste great specifically when grilled, so anyone who loves grilled sushi will absolutely love this.
If you all had to order just one, I'd personally recommend this Special Sushi set — you get a filling meal at a reasonable price!
How did the otoro, grilled freshwater eel and engawa taste?
The tuna otoro melted the moment it hit my mouth... I wanted to order one more piece of just otoro... so delicious.
The freshwater eel had no bones so it was easy to eat, and the combo of the sweet-salty sauce with the eel was fantastic! The warm eel sushi was one of the tastiest pieces of the day 😗 Since it's also included in the grilled sushi set, it seems to be one of the popular items.
As for the engawa, need I say more... the texture was springy and firm, and I was sad there was only 1 piece before it disappeared.
Is Sushi Naru worth a visit? Final verdict
Even though this was a spur-of-the-moment visit after a sudden sushi craving, the cuts were thick and filling, so today's visit to Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch was very satisfying! If you're looking for a good sushi restaurant in Daemyeong-dong, I'd recommend giving it a try! 🪽
