There's a lot to consider when picking a Korean BBQ place with a kid — whether they have a kids' chair or dishware, and whether there's somewhere the child can play for a bit during the meal. This time we went to Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch, a well-known spot in Sinwolseong, Daegu. There's a playroom, plus a kids' chair and kids' dishware, so it was easy to visit with our child.

At Baeksanu Sutbul you can order both beef and pork dishes together.

From jinjja pork galbi, bakpo saeng galbi, jjakdaegi saeng galbi, and sil-makchang (small intestines) to charcoal-grilled squid, cheese scallops, and assorted sausages — there's a wide range of menu options to suit different tastes.

For a first order, jinjja pork galbi starts at 1kg for ₩44,000. Additional orders come in 500g portions at ₩23,000. Bakpo saeng galbi is 600g, also priced at ₩44,000.

We ordered bakpo saeng galbi, jinjja pork galbi, doenjang jjigae, rice, and egg custard. We got the doenjang jjigae and rice alongside the meat, and also ordered the egg custard for our child to eat.

Can jinjja pork galbi be ordered pre-grilled?

This is the jinjja pork galbi. You can choose to have it pre-grilled or not. Trying it myself, the meat was on the tender side, and the seasoning wasn't too salty or intense — just right. It was a comfortable flavor even when choosing something to share with a toddler.

How does bakpo saeng galbi (raw pork ribs) taste?

Bakpo saeng galbi is a dish that lets you taste the meat itself more than seasoned pork galbi does.

Grilled over charcoal, the outside browns nicely while the center stays moist — eating it that way really brings out the flavor of the meat. Along with that came various side dishes, and the sauce especially suited my taste.

What's at the self-serve bar?

At the Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch self-serve bar you can use wrap vegetables and pork skin. You can grab as many vegetables as you need to eat with the meat, and pork skin was also available to help yourself to.

After finishing the meal, there was also a slushie machine.

Why Baeksanu Sutbul is easy with a toddler

The biggest reason we decided to visit was the playroom. There's a playroom inside the restaurant, so our child didn't get bored during the meal.

A kids' chair and kids' dishware were also ready, and there was a slushie machine and a claw machine too. Sometimes you have to bring your own chair or dishware when eating out with a kid, but having these basics already set up made it easy for our family meal.
