Jeju Dongmun Market snack shop: garlic oranda crisp after the flight

A restaurant I stumbled onto while visiting Jeju's Dongmun Market!! Cheongchuni Oranda.

After parking, I made my way into Jeju Dongmun Market~! It had this atmosphere that somehow reminded me of a Ghibli film. Less like a typical Korean market and more like a Taiwanese night market?! First, let me introduce Cheongchuni Oranda, the place I visited.

Where is Cheongchuni Oranda inside Jeju Dongmun Market?

Cheongchuni Oranda is an oranda shop inside Jeju Dongmun Market, located at 6-8 Dongmun-ro, 1st floor, Jeju-si. There was no wait the day I went, but the area in front of the shop was packed with people!

I personally care a lot about hygiene, and I liked that this shop was noticeably cleaner than other oranda shops.

What the oranda tastes like at the sample counter

There's a sample counter in front of Cheongchuni Oranda, so I got to try before buying. I've had oranda plenty of times at markets and grocery stores before, but this one was chewier and crispier — I liked it a lot.

There's also a huge variety of flavors — gamtae oranda, donut oranda, garlic oranda, and more~!

If you buy just one: garlic oranda

If you asked me to pick just one thing at Cheongchuni Oranda, it's hands-down the garlic oranda — insanely good. Oranda can get a bit sickly sweet, right? But the garlic flavor balances it out so it tastes even better (kind of like an upgraded garlic baguette).

Since Jeju is such a tourist spot, a lot of people buy souvenirs to bring home. Most people go for maeum sand cookies. But this time I picked something a little different — the Cheongchuni Oranda gift box! The packaging is so cute that just holding it makes you feel good.

Honestly, oranda has a strong image of being a snack for older people. But trying it changed my mind. Crispy with a subtle sweetness — it totally suited my taste as someone in my twenties!

That makes it a great gift for older relatives and also a nice item to hand out to friends one by one!!

Donut-shaped gift set as a snack for kids

Another perk is that they also sell a donut-shaped gift set! Shaped like little rings, they're much cuter than regular oranda. They're small enough to fit in one hand, so they seemed perfect as a snack for little kids. Easy to hold and eat, too!

Such a gorgeous look... Under the lighting, the coating on the surface sparkled. The colors were vibrant too, so just looking at them put me in a good mood!! If you have nieces or nephews, buying these is sure to get a big reaction!

Why Cheongchuni Oranda is a must-stop at Dongmun Market

I originally went to Dongmun Market to buy from Abebe Bakery and Geobugi Bap, but I ended up trying the oranda along the way!

Personally, I think the two must-visit spots at Dongmun Market are Cheongchuni Oranda and Abebe Bakery — those were the tastiest for me!

Individually wrapped and still crisp back home

Above all, I think the biggest advantage of Cheongchuni Oranda is how well it keeps. Each piece is individually wrapped, so even after opening the box and leaving it for a few days, it never went soggy.

Honestly, a lot of snacks bought in Jeju taste different once you get home. You wonder if it only tasted good because of the mood in the moment... but this wasn't like that. Even after flying home and opening the package, it was just as crisp as it was on site!

There's a quiet joy in pulling one out at a time while unpacking after the trip. Thanks to that, the Jeju afterglow lasted a few extra days (unlike bread, which tastes great right away but clearly goes bad if stored too long).

So!! Next time I visit Jeju Dongmun Market, I think I'll buy "Cheongchuni Oranda" again as a souvenir.
