Storefront (Dento)
Continuing my vacation in Daegu. If you ask where the hottest spot in Daegu is, most people would say Dongseongno, but I think the real gems these days are popping up in Bongsan-dong. Like hidden masters tucked away, Bongsan-dong has some seriously good cafés and restaurants hiding in plain sight, and this time I visited Dento, a brand-new brunch café near Banwoldang Station in Bongsan-dong.
If you want to enjoy some downtime in Daegu, I recommend this brunch café! Let's go inside.

Interior (Dento)
The first thing that greeted me was the owner's back, hard at work — looks like they were busy making delicious sandwiches and drinks. My first impression of Dento was a pretty space with a relaxed, restful atmosphere!
On the table in the middle of the space you'll find dishware, water and wet wipes — and even this area is arranged simply but prettily, which already puts me in a good mood. Flowers are tucked in all over the place, and I think everyone feels a little happier seeing flowers, right?? The neatly arranged tableware brings a sense of calm too.
Inside, tables range from round to square, mostly arranged for three or four people, and each one blends beautifully with the interior. This is the kind of space that truly deserves the word 'pretty' — a certified pretty café of Daegu. Let's take a look at the menu!

Good morning~! Since Dento is a brunch café, sandwich-style dishes are the star, and among them, the '5 bite-size open sandwiches' are the main event!
The five bite-size open sandwiches are
- 1) Pan con tomate
- 2) Avocado salmon
- 3) Romesco roasted vegetable
- 4) Shrimp rémoulade
- 5) Truffle ricotta
Five sandwich varieties, and each one uses seriously premium ingredients... being able to try them all at once? Gotta order right away! There are also combos of sandwich with soup or sandwich with salad, and for drinks there's drip coffee, tea, beer, wine and more.

This is the wine on offer, and for wine novices like me, the owner kindly wrote out explanations by hand..! That's 100x thoughtfulness right there! They even wrote out the sweetness, acidity, body and tannin level — wine paired with brunch is the best combo~!
There's also a note explaining today's coffee,
and for beer, they carry Saison Dupont. Nothing here feels random — every drink is served with real care ㅠㅠ And the owner is so kind, too.

This is what I ordered: the five bite-size open sandwiches and iced drip coffee!
From right to left: pan con tomate sandwich, avocado salmon sandwich, romesco roasted vegetable sandwich, shrimp rémoulade sandwich, and truffle ricotta sandwich! As I mentioned, each one uses seriously premium ingredients..! With ingredients like these making up the sandwiches, the taste is basically guaranteed!
For me, the third one, the romesco roasted vegetable sandwich, was the tastiest. The not-too-spicy sweet-savory sauce paired beautifully with the just-right roasted vegetables.
The first, pan con tomate, had that fresh tomato brightness — you could really taste the raw tomato — so it felt like a healthy, delicious bite. The second, avocado salmon, can't miss; I love salmon anyway, and it worked great with the avocado. Last, the truffle ricotta sandwich was packed with truffle aroma and flavor, which really maximized that café-break feeling.
