Seoul Korean BBQ with terrace seats in Bangi-dong: Jinseong Hanwoo
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a hanwoo beef gopchang (grilled beef intestines) restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul. After a late night at the office, the writer and a coworker waited about an hour, took a terrace seat, and ordered 3 servings of beef gopchang for 57,000 won, yang (beef tripe) fried rice for 9,000 won, and a Terra beer for 5,000 won, while the owner set a stopwatch and cut the gopchang after 5 minutes so the rich fat stayed inside. The Sindang and Bangi branches taste the same, so either location at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is a safe bet.

An after-work dinner at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in Bangi-dong
A fine evening after a solid stretch of overtime! There are actually quite a few famous hanwoo (Korean beef) gopchang spots around Jamsil. This time we visited the Bangi branch of Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang.
With a coworker I've gotten surprisingly close to. (We keep saying we never thought we'd end up this close.) Hahaha.

How long is the wait at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang?
We came right after work, and since it was peak evening hours, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi branch had quite a wait. Even after we wrote our name on the list, more and more names kept getting added. Clearly a popular place! As the wait dragged on, the owner came out and gave everyone waiting a can of zero-sugar cola, haha.

So we waited almost an hour, and got to enjoy a pretty nice sky too.

We also showed off the keyrings on our bags (well, just me). My coworker kept grumbling that the keyring on her bag wasn't even her style but she was stuck with it anyway, haha. My Miffy is something to be proud of!!! Busan Miffy!!

Terrace seats in Bangi-dong on a clear evening
After hanging around for a while like that, the owner led us to seats perfect for enjoying the weather. The weather's been so nice lately... isn't a terrace(?) seat exactly what you want? Even after the long wait, I was in a great mood.

Minari and cheongyang pepper soy sauce with house-made kimchi
It's basically a dipping sauce for gopchang with minari (water celery) and cheongyang chili peppers in it. There's more cheongyang pepper than you'd expect, so eating it with the gopchang gives you a real kick (hehe).

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang was already serious about their kimchi at the Sindang branch, and it seems they really take pride in making it themselves. The kimchi here was delicious too.

What we ordered at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, and what it cost
- Beef gopchang x3: ₩57,000
- Fried rice x1: ₩9,000
- Terra beer x1: ₩5,000

The 5-minute stopwatch: gopchang cut so the fat stays in
The owner sets a timer, and once 5 minutes pass and it goes off, they come over and cut the gopchang carefully so the fat inside doesn't spill out.

We wait patiently.
Endless waiting (^^)

The steamed egg also comes out. The visual is... almost violent.

It's pretty messy, but as a beginner food blogger, this is the only way I can show you just how much fat is packed into this place's gopchang, haha. I usually only take outfit photos, so why is it so hard to photograph food?

Ending with yang (beef tripe) fried rice
We also ordered the fried rice made with the intestine drippings. Basically mandatory.

The old-school outdoor-tent mood in the Bangi food alley
The inside of Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi branch has this old-school(?), outdoor-tent(?) kind of atmosphere. The kind of place that makes you crave a somaek (soju-beer mix) while you relax.

Sindang branch vs Bangi branch: does the taste differ?
There's a Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang branch in my own neighborhood too — the Sindang branch! With chain restaurants, the taste can sometimes vary by location, but Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is delicious at both the Sindang and Bangi branches. Really, really good.
(Bows) Thanks for the meal!
