Seoul coffee shop for decaf americano and fruit soufflé: Petrico
In short
Petrico is a soufflé cake café on Jandari-ro in Mapo, Seoul, within a 10-minute walk of Hapjeong Station. On an afternoon visit the iced decaf americano and the signature fruit soufflé cake were the order, and because the meringue is whipped and baked to order the cake took about 15 minutes. Two fluffy soufflé pancakes with whipped cream, caramelized banana and fresh fruit alongside a full-bodied decaf made Petrico a perfect afternoon dessert stop.

Where is Petrico, the Hapjeong Station café?
Petrico is a soufflé cake café tucked at the mouth of an alley off Jandari-ro in Mapo, within a 10-minute walk of Hapjeong Station. On a day when I was craving something especially sweet and soft, I visited this hidden gem among the countless cafés near Hapjeong Station〰️
Like its name — which means the smell of earth after rain — the exterior had a look that seemed like it would bring a little moisture to a dry daily routine, and that's what first drew me in😌💗 Petrico is a Hapjeong Station café that wins you over from the outside alone, and it's a soufflé cake spot you can reach within a 10-minute walk of the station🥞🤎

What Petrico looks like inside
The moment I opened the door, I was hit with the sweet, nutty smell of butter baking and a deep coffee aroma brushing past my nose🥃 The interior of Petrico is decorated in warm wood tones and soft yellow lighting, giving off a calm that feels like a completely different world from the busy streets of Hapjeong outside:)

Even though it was my first visit, I felt as comfortable as if I were at my regular café😊 The owner and staff were incredibly kind, which made me like Petrico even more — let's take a look at the interior in photos🙋♀️

Decaf that works in the afternoon: what we ordered at Petrico
After looking around inside, it was time to actually order. The fruit soufflé cake — the signature menu item and the biggest reason I came to Petrico — was an easy, unhesitating pick.
Since it was afternoon, I worried that coffee would keep me up at night, and a bittersweet americano always feels like the right match for a sweet dessert, so I was debating between tea and ade when I noticed they had decaf — decaf it was🥃
I ordered an iced decaf americano and the fruit soufflé cake at Petrico, went back to my seat, and waited with excitement🌝

The soufflé pancakes are whipped into meringue and baked fresh the moment you order, so it took about 15 minutes🥞

Petrico's fruit soufflé cake: what's on the plate and how it tastes
The dessert made with so much care at Petrico, this Hapjeong Station café — the fruit soufflé cake with an iced decaf americano🧊🥃

Every time the plate touched the table, the two thick soufflé pancakes wobbled softly — along with snow-white whipped cream, caramelized banana, tangy orange, sweet blueberries, and sweet-tart kiwi.

It looked so delicious〰️ I couldn't wait to take a bite.

They also give you maple syrup, so you can drizzle it on to taste🌝

Maple syrup, poured on generously🍯 My preference is to eat it drizzled and moist🫶
The moment I put the knife in, I was surprised first by how it seemed to melt apart softly rather than get cut👀

The texture melted away on my tongue like cotton candy. There was no eggy smell at all, just rich, nutty flavor, and the whipped cream — not overly sweet, with the milky taste still alive — balanced perfectly with the fruit bursting with sweet-tart juice😌 The thin caramelized layer on top of the banana added a crisp texture and a pleasantly bittersweet kick🍌
How good is Petrico's decaf iced americano?
Decaf beans can sometimes taste overly acidic or bland, but Petrico's decaf coffee had a body as rich as regular coffee, with a nutty dark chocolate flavor. After the soufflé cake left my mouth pleasantly sweet, a sip of the cold, ice-packed coffee cleaned everything up, letting me enjoy the cake again from the start💗
