Suwon café for Lamingtons and coconut latte: Jeong Jiyeong

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters, one of my favorite Suwon spots ever since it was in Haenggung-dong. I’m one happy person as it keeps opening more branches, and since there’s one in Starfield too, I’ve visited a few times—finally leaving a review now :)

It’s by the Gourmet entrance on the second floor. It used to be takeaway only, but now it seems to have a seating area? Or was it always behind there and I just didn’t notice... Anyway, there are seats, so it seems nice for drinking in too. It feels a little compact, but there are quite a few chairs, so if you’re visiting alone or as a pair, you should be able to sit comfortably!

There’s also a corner stocked with straws, water, tissues, and more. I’m getting takeaway again today, so off I go to order!

Coffee beans, desserts, and drinks

As you’d expect from a place known for coffee, Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters at Starfield Suwon also sells beans. If I get an espresso machine someday, I’ll have to try buying some.

They sell desserts too, and since it’s fig season, there were fig cake and fig sandwiches right there... Plus madeleines and Lamingtons in cups. The moment I saw the Lamingtons, I knew I couldn’t not have them, so I decided to order one. The Basque cheesecake just looked delicious too... so plump... They also sell cold brew, which tempted me; the people behind me noticed it too, saying, “Oh, they have cold brew?” I’ll have to get it next time.

They also have lighter things like cookies and honey rusks, so if cake feels like too much, these would be a good choice~!!

The drink selection! I love that you can switch to decaf for free... Some places charge ₩1,000 for it ㅠ From Americanos and standard lattes to summer lattes and the signature coconut latte. If coffee isn’t your thing, there are plenty of options such as ade and milk tea, so keep that in mind when ordering :)~~~

Signature coconut latte and Lamingtons

So what did I order? Normally I’d get an Americano or vanilla latte, but I went for the signature coconut latte—a coffee that has sold 1.11 million cups!!! Haha, it’s been a while since I’ve had something like this.

The Lamingtons and coconut latte I brought away. Lamington cake is hard to find, which is a shame, and I also loved that these came as easy-to-eat little individual bites. They said they could give me a bag, but I didn’t take one separately! They told me to mix the coconut latte well, so I’m stirring it before setting off! It’s a substantial latte that somehow looks rich and intense even at a glance. Coffee like this can be a bit hit-or-miss, so I was really excited to see what it would be like. I visit Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters occasionally, but this was my first coconut one...

After mixing it for a while, I could see there was still some left at the top. So I gave it an even more diligent stir!

One sip, and that clean sweetness was exactly my taste!! Now I understand why the coconut latte has sold so well... It wasn’t overly sweet, the flavors didn’t feel disconnected, and it was sooo good. I meant to drink it on the way home, but I just finished it all;; haha. Gone in 10 minutes..

Lamingtons that are hard to stop at one

Next up, the cute Lamingtons. I saved these to eat at home!

After dinner, I suddenly thought of them and said I’d quickly try just one—but is stopping at one even possible? Naturally, I ended up eating more than half the tub.. I held back on the rest to have with coffee the next day.. The soft cake with that delicious chocolate-and-coconut coating was completely my kind of thing... If I go again, I’d like to buy a tub.
