I had an errand to run in Apgujeong and figured I'd grab lunch nearby, which is how I found Eulji Darak. My friend who came with me had her eyes go round after tasting the food — it was that good, haha. The vibe is great too, so I'm leaving an honest review since it seemed perfect for a wedding meetup or a blind date spot.
How to get to Eulji Darak Apgujeong Dosan Park
Eulji Darak Apgujeong Dosan Park is an 8-minute walk from Exit 5 of Apgujeong Rodeo Station. Every time I've been to Apgujeong Rodeo it's been packed with people, but Wednesday lunch turned out to be about the quietest time — the streets were nearly empty on the way, so it was an easy walk.
Following the map, you'll eventually arrive at Eulji Darak. It's on the 2nd floor of the building — go in through the door on the side and take the stairs up.
It's not really a great spot for waiting in line, but there's enough space for maybe one group to sit and wait here. Parking isn't provided, so you'll need to use a nearby paid private or public lot.
The bookshelf, not the green door, is the real entrance
When you come up to the 2nd floor, you'll see a green door and a bookshelf. Can you tell which one's the actual door??? Unfortunately that green door is just decoration, haha. The real door is that bookshelf right next to it. I've seen escape rooms pull this kind of trick before, but Eulji Darak is a place you can have a little fun with even when you're just here to eat. If you don't know beforehand, you might be confused, so remember this — push the bookshelf and you're in!
Inside Eulji Darak: atmosphere and seating
It's decorated so beautifully. Eulji Darak is mostly a 2-seater restaurant, with about 4 tables for four, but since tables can be pushed together, groups can dine here too. In fact, the table next to us had around 6 people eating together. And of course solo dining is fine too, so don't worry about it — just come and enjoy the food.
Just a heads up, the restroom is half a floor up!
Ah, and I loved the dishware too. It has that antique yet elegant feel? So it also gives off the sense that they put thought into hosting wedding meetups, and I'd recommend it as a blind date spot too.
What two of us ordered for a Wednesday lunch
Eulji Darak's signature menu includes omurice, rose pasta, and spicy crab risotto, among others. Since we'd already had omurice recently, we ordered the Darak rose pasta and the chopped pork neck steak — both signature dishes we hadn't tried yet.
Once you've picked your menu, you ring that bell and a staff member comes to take your order. Oh, this is actually nice — you can order without having to shout for the 'owner'!
How do the Darak rose pasta and chopped pork neck steak taste?
Finally, the rose pasta and pork steak arrived.
Eulji Darak's rose pasta had a bit of a ragu feel to it. It's a combination of house-made meat sauce with sweet fresh cream and cheese, so it comes out with fresh cream on top — they told us to mix it well before eating. The look of it was amazing~~~ I mixed it up and took a bite, and wow, this is really something. At first the look of it made me think 'wait, is this really rose sauce?' and I was a bit unsure as I mixed it, but it turned out to be a genuinely delicious rose pasta — not greasy at all, but still had that proper creamy flavor.
Oh! But this pork neck steak was seriously no joke. My friend who came with me doesn't even like meat much, and she said it was really good. The sauce was delicious, and the pork neck wasn't dry at all — it was genuinely soft. Plus, the mashed potato?? served alongside it hits perfectly when you eat them together. It doesn't clash at all, it just works.
Is Eulji Darak a good spot for a wedding get-together or a blind date?
Overall, both the atmosphere and the food at Eulji Darak were really great. Eating with the calm background music playing, there's no way the vibe could be bad. And on top of that, the food is delicious too? Why wouldn't you go~ Next time I have a wedding meetup with friends, this would be a great place to come to. You can pull off that 'treating everyone' feeling, and the friends who come with you will enjoy the food too! If you have a wedding meetup or blind date coming up around Apgujeong Rodeo, this place is worth considering. Recommended!
