Kid-friendly beef BBQ restaurant in Yeongtong, Suwon: Sogogi Twist

I took my meat-loving guys with me haha, and this time we headed to Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch near the Yeongtong District Office. The beef platter comes out at a whopping 1kg, so at first I wondered if our family could actually finish it all...

Spoiler: we didn't leave a single scrap haha, especially our second kid, the carnivore of the family, who really went to town 🤣

Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch is on the 1st floor of 393 Hyowon-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, and per the storefront sign it's open 16:00–24:00. Building parking is available too.

It's on the Yeongtong District Office restaurant strip, so it was a great spot for dinner. The huge "Sogogi Twist" lettering out front made it easy to find haha. If you're looking for a beef restaurant near the Yeongtong District Office, keep this location in mind :)

What we ordered was the beef platter (prime) 1kg for ₩88,000 at Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch. It's a mix of flower shrimp meat, chuck flap tail, and outside skirt, so instead of just one cut, you get to try several evenly — I loved that. The 500g option is ₩54,000, so you can choose based on your group size.

Looking at the menu, there was a good variety beyond beef too, including a pork platter and a special platter with wagyu.

The basic side dishes were shredded scallions, pickled onions, diced radish kimchi, and pickled vegetables, plus salt, garlic, and sauce on the table. The meat is great on its own, but pairing it with the scallions or pickled onions between bites gave it a whole different flavor haha.

The kids stared and I immediately reached for my camera 🤣 On top of that, the king oyster mushrooms even had "Sogogi Twist" carved right into them! It made for such a great photo that I snapped several shots before we even started grilling. With 1kg, the plate was piled generously with meat, and our family genuinely ate until we were full.

Why the beef at Sogogi Twist isn't just fatty

The beef at Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch was moderately tender and not overly fatty, so it was easy to keep eating. We put it on the grill and started cooking in earnest!

I sometimes find heavily marbled, greasy beef a bit much after a while, but this felt lighter than that, so it wasn't heavy at all. With several cuts in the mix, the textures varied slightly too, which made picking and choosing part of the fun haha.

1kg of beef is quite a lot, but we ended up finishing every bit haha. Personally, if you're visiting as a family looking for a hearty beef meal near the Yeongtong District Office, I think this is a solid choice.

Is Sogogi Twist a good place to bring kids?

Our kids came along to Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch that day, and if your kid genuinely enjoys beef, it's an easy place to eat together. Our first kid ended up falling asleep partway through eating... haha, ugh.

Our second kid, true to form as our resident carnivore, absolutely demolished the beef 🤣 Thanks to our meat-loving second kid, every piece disappeared the moment it came off the grill haha. Going to a BBQ place with kids usually means worrying whether there's something for them to eat, but that day it was easy.

We also added king oyster mushrooms for ₩3,000 partway through. A bite of meat, then pickled onions, then some scallions! Mixing things in between rather than eating only beef the whole time made it easy to eat until the very end without getting tired of it.

Ending the meal with 9,000-won fresh-beef kimchi stew

We wrapped up with Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch's raw beef kimchi stew for ₩9,000, ordered with a bowl of rice. After all that beef, you've got to have rice too, right? Haha.

The kimchi stew wasn't the overly sour style I usually don't like! The broth was clean and refreshing, which made it great to eat with rice after all that meat. And as you can see in the photo, the beef chunks inside were pretty generous too haha.

After saying we were full from the beef, we still cleaned out the kimchi stew and rice on the way out... 🤣
