Uijeongbu Gosan-dong BBQ: 600g aged beef plate with 5 cuts, Hanmaeum

Went out for meat with the family over the weekend after a while. Headed to Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant, well known for Uijeongbu BBQ family meals.

When eating out with kids, tasty food matters, but as a parent whether there's somewhere the kids can play comfortably matters just as much haha 😉

This time at Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch, the meat was solid, but personally what I loved was that they have a playroom 👏

Since it's a butcher-shop restaurant that sells its own aged meat, the price felt relatively manageable given today's dining costs, while still letting you try a variety of cuts — a real plus.

What cuts come with the 600g aged beef plate?

What our family ordered was Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch's aged beef half-plate 600g. The lineup: jingalbisal, galbisal, bone galbi, bupchaesal, and beef brisket!

Rather than eating just one cut, having several kinds served together made it easy for the family to pick according to taste.

"I want galbisal!" "I want bupchaesal!"

There's a fun in picking one at a time like this too haha 😄 The meat quality was good, probably because it's aged in-house, and best of all we got to try several cuts at once.

These days a family BBQ trip adds up pretty fast, but since this is a butcher shop, the value felt reasonable.

Hanmaeum's side dishes all taste home-cooked

At a BBQ place, the side dishes matter almost as much as the meat.

Hanmaeum serves scallion salad, cucumber salad, stir-fried fish cake, bean sprouts, fresh kimchi, and more, and overall they felt less like the usual punchy BBQ-place sides and more like something made at home, which I loved.

Grill a piece of meat, eat it with scallion salad, grab some cucumber salad too — before I knew it my chopsticks kept going back to the sides.

And the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) you simmer yourself was delicious too. Taking a warm spoonful while eating meat — BBQ really isn't complete without doenjang jjigae 😊

Naengmyeon between rounds of beef to refresh the palate

Keep eating meat and even the tastiest stuff can feel a bit heavy after a while. So we ordered naengmyeon too.

Cold naengmyeon with little ice slivers floating in it — one bite between meat courses and your mouth feels completely refreshed! A bite of meat, a bite of naengmyeon. That combo is impossible to resist haha 😂

What does the castella pork skin taste like?

I also tried the castella pork skin I received through the review event.

True to its name, the texture was fluffier than typical pork skin. And it barely had that particular gamey smell that pork skin can sometimes have, which I appreciated.

The sauce served alongside was a bit unusual too — soybean powder with curry mixed in. At first I thought "curry with pork skin?" but dipping it in, the nutty soybean powder with a hint of curry aroma actually worked surprisingly well together. Definitely worth having as an occasional treat 😋

The playroom families with kids will like most

Honestly, what I liked most about Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch was the playroom. When you take kids to a BBQ place, parents are busy grilling and kids get bored and start with "Mom, when do we eat?" "Dad, are you done yet?" haha 😂

But here there's a separate playroom, so kids can have fun after eating. Inside there's a jungle gym, games, a claw machine — stuff kids love, so what started as a meal out turns into a pretty exciting outing for them too.

Best of all, the playroom is visible from the dining tables, so you can keep an eye on the kids! No need to keep following them around inside — you can just glance over while eating, which made things a lot easier.

There are separate group rooms too, which looked good for family gatherings or larger groups. For families dining out with young kids especially, a space like this feels like a real advantage.

Kids having a blast playing, adults enjoying meat a bit more leisurely — isn't that the ideal picture of a family meal out?

Is Hanmaeum a good weekend family dinner spot in Uijeongbu?

• The homemade-style sides and doenjang jjigae are solid
• There's naengmyeon to finish things off refreshingly
• And best of all, there's a playroom for the kids!

If you're a family looking for somewhere to eat meat with kids, this seems like a pretty good option. Kids have a blast in the playroom while the adults eat comfortably. A good spot for a weekend family outing 😊
