Gosan-dong Korean BBQ in Uijeongbu: five-cut half pig, big jjolmyeon
In short
Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch is a butcher-shop-style Korean BBQ place on the 3rd floor of a building on Seseok-ro in Gosan-dong, Uijeongbu. For a family dinner we ordered the half pig (samgyeopsal, ogyeopsal, mokjisal, hangjeongsal and gabrisal) plus naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and jjolmyeon (chewy noodles in spicy sauce), and the pork had no gamey smell, which made comparing the texture of each cut fun. The noodle bowls were far bigger than a side-dish finisher, so we left a little behind after a very filling meal.

Today I visited Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch for dinner with my family! They even have a playroom and private rooms, so if you're looking for a dinner spot or a family outing place in Gosan-dong, this might be worth checking out.

If you're driving, you can use the underground parking lot inside the building! It's a pretty large lot with plenty of spots, so we were able to park easily.
The building and entrance in Gosan-dong

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch is located on the 3rd floor of the building!
Inside Hanmaeum: private rooms and the self-serve corner
The interior of Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch was clean, with enough tables for group gatherings or company dinners, and there's a separate room space besides the regular tables. They even had a self-serve side-dish corner and plastic bags for your clothes and belongings.

Walking in, the interior was clean overall and really spacious! With so many tables, it seemed like a great spot not only for family outings but also for group gatherings or company dinners. And besides the regular tables, there was a separate room space too. If you're looking for a family gathering spot at a Korean BBQ restaurant in Uijeongbu, this could be worth a look!

On one side there was a self-serve corner where you could easily grab extra side dishes. And they had plastic bags ready for storing your clothes or belongings too. Whenever you visit a Korean BBQ place, the smell soaking into your clothes is always a bit of a concern, so it was nice they'd thought of this!
The playroom you can watch on CCTV
There was also a separate playroom, great for visiting with kids! In particular, you could check the playroom in real time via CCTV from your table, so kids could play while parents ate comfortably.
What comes with the half pig set
The pork half-pig at Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch consists of five cuts total: samgyeopsal, ogyeopsal, mokjisal, hangjeongsal, and gabrisal. You order via tabletop ordering, and along with the basic table setting you get mukjabap and doenjang jjigae.

After being seated, we ordered via the tabletop ordering system and they brought out this basic table setting. That day we ordered pork half-pig, naengmyeon, and jjolmyeon! The pork half-pig turned out to be made up of samgyeopsal + ogyeopsal + mokjisal + hangjeongsal + gabrisal, five cuts in total. They also have beef options besides pork, so if you're looking for beef at a Korean BBQ restaurant in Uijeongbu, it's worth checking the menu too.
The mukjabap that comes standard! It looks so refreshing just from the photo!
And doenjang jjigae comes standard too! Doenjang jjigae really is the best at a Korean BBQ restaurant. The rich, savory broth paired so well with the meat — a bite of meat followed by a spoonful of hot doenjang jjigae was just perfect.
How each cut tasted: samgyeopsal, ogyeopsal, mokjisal, hangjeongsal, gabrisal
Overall, the pork half-pig had no gamey pork smell at all, and each cut had a different texture, which made comparing them fun. To me, samgyeopsal was the tastiest, while the rest of my family picked gabrisal as the best.

Now for the actual grilling! First off, none of the meat had that distinctive gamey pork smell, and since each cut had a different texture, comparing them one by one was fun.

The samgyeopsal and ogyeopsal had a chewy skin texture that paired nicely with the savory fat, making for great bites! These were my favorite. The mokjisal wasn't dry at all — soft and clean-tasting. After eating the fattier cuts, switching to mokjisal in between had its own appeal with its lighter flavor.

Hangjeongsal & gabrisal. The hangjeongsal got more savory the more you chewed it, and the gabrisal was soft yet pleasantly chewy with good meaty aroma. Samgyeopsal was my favorite, but my family said gabrisal was the best!

I was especially satisfied that there was zero gamey smell! Each cut really did have its own distinct flavor and texture, which made it fun to pick your favorite.

From scallion salad to bomdong namul, they served side dishes that paired well with the meat. Eating a lot of meat can get a bit greasy after a while, but the scallion salad and bomdong namul cut through that greasiness nicely!
How big are the naengmyeon and jjolmyeon portions?
The naengmyeon and jjolmyeon at Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch were not dessert-sized portions. Both came in such large amounts that even after finishing the pork half-pig, we ended up leaving a little behind.

Honestly, neither of these looked like dessert portions..! You can tell just from looking that they're huge!
The naengmyeon had a refreshing, tangy broth that was clean-tasting and paired well with the chewy noodles. After eating our fill of meat, that cold refreshing naengmyeon cleared the palate perfectly! You've got to have it alongside the meat!
The jjolmyeon was packed generously with both noodles and vegetables, way more than I expected. The sweet-tangy-spicy sauce soaked nicely into the chewy noodles, and the crisp vegetables added great texture too.
In the end, we couldn't finish it all and left a bit behind... haha. The portions were really huge and delicious, so it was a very satisfying meal.
Is Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant worth it for a family dinner?
Would revisit: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was great being able to try multiple cuts — samgyeopsal, ogyeopsal, mokjisal, hangjeongsal, and gabrisal — all at once with the pork half-pig, and overall it was delicious with no gamey pork smell. Also, the jjolmyeon and naengmyeon portions were far too big to think of as just a side, so keep that in mind when ordering! If you're looking for a dinner spot in Gosan-dong or a family gathering place at a Korean BBQ restaurant in Uijeongbu, this could be a good one to check out.
