Uijeongbu Sangok-dong BBQ: 300g sobanmari five cuts at Hanmaeum

Today I want to introduce a great BBQ restaurant for a family dinner in Gosan-dong, Uijeongbu! It's Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch. I heard about it while looking for BBQ spots in Uijeongbu — apparently since it's a butcher-shop-style restaurant, the meat quality is good and the prices are pretty reasonable too. But what really sold me was that they have a kids' playroom, which makes it perfect for eating out with the family.

Where is Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District, and where do you park?

It's located at 20 Seseok-ro, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do, on the 3rd floor of Poly Plaza, right in front of the rear gate of Daegwang Lechien in Gosan-dong.

You can use the building's basement parking, which made driving there really convenient. Parking is available down to B3, and get this — 3 hours free! Just don't forget to register your parking after your meal. Getting off the elevator on the 3rd floor, the store entrance is right there, so it wasn't hard to find at all. Let's go in!!

Inside Hanmaeum: private rooms and window seats

Walking in, the vibe was way cleaner and more upscale than your typical BBQ restaurant — the name says 'butcher restaurant' but the interior is pure luxury! There are window seats too, which I loved. Overall it felt spacious and comfortable, so I'd recommend it not just for family meals but for company dinners or group gatherings as well.

On one side there are also 3 separate private rooms, which looked great for a more private dining experience.

The jungle-gym playroom: what ages can use it?

The playroom at Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District is for ages 4–9, no children under 3 allowed, and kids 5 and under need a guardian with them — good to know before you visit! It really felt like a great restaurant to visit with kids, since the jungle-gym-style play area lets children have fun while the adults eat. There were actually a lot of kids playing in it, so I snapped this photo during a quieter moment haha.

It's made with eco-friendly materials, which gave me extra peace of mind bringing kids along. Kids get to play happily in the playroom while parents can eat in peace — such a great feature!

Hanmaeum's menu and how kiosk ordering works

Here's the menu! Each table has its own kiosk, so you can order comfortably without calling a staff member over. The menu ranges from set meals to individual meat cuts and a really wide variety of side dishes — I saw plenty of options kids would enjoy too.

There's a separate spot where they store the aged meat. Seeing it made me trust it'd taste even better, and it's a secret that the slush soju sitting next to it caught my eye more haha. I had a bit of a cold today so I skipped the alcohol.

We ordered the sobanmari 300g. Being a butcher-style restaurant, I really liked how it lets you try various cuts of beef for a reasonable price. Couldn't wait to eat it haha.

Free side dishes, doenjang jjigae and the self-serve bar

The basic side dishes here are really generous — you know how butcher-style restaurants often keep the sides pretty simple? Not here. They came with seasoned namul, mukchunk (jelly noodle salad), pickled cucumber, pickled chili, shredded scallion, baek-kimchi and more, all great to eat with the meat — very satisfying!

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that comes standard exceeded expectations too! With zucchini and big chunks of tofu in it, the broth was savory and went really well with the meat.

There were already so many side dishes that I didn't end up using the self-serve bar, but it's there if you need more, and you can help yourself as much as you like. The bar was kept clean too, so it seemed easy to use without any hesitation.

What comes in the sobanmari 300g set, and how it tasted

The best menu item at this Sangok-dong favorite! The sobanmari finally arrived! It was packed with a variety of cuts — jin-galbisal, galbisal, ppyeo-galbi, bucheatsal, woo-samgyeop and more — so I got to try lots of different parts of the cow at once. With the side dishes and doenjang jjigae included, it was a good amount for two adults along with the meat. The meat looked so fresh in color that I was already excited before even grilling it haha.

As the meat sizzled on the grill, the delicious sound alone was enough to stir up my appetite. I grilled the woo-samgyeop first until golden brown, and one bite in, the juices were still moist and it was so tender! No gamey smell at all, just clean and delicious. Wrapping it in a pickled radish slice with meat, baek-kimchi and pickled chili, then dipping it in ssamjang, made it even better!

Next up were the galbi cuts and bucheatsal on the grill. No smell whatsoever, and incredibly tender and delicious!

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District, a Sangok-dong favorite, was satisfying all around — from good-value aged meat to a wide variety of basic side dishes and a delicious doenjang jjigae. But its biggest strength is having a kids' playroom where children can play comfortably while the adults eat. With a spacious, comfortable space, convenient parking and delicious meat, I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a family-friendly BBQ spot in Uijeongbu.
