Hanam Misa restaurant for two abalone rice soups to share: O Hyeongje
In short
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi that specialises in nurungjitang (crispy scorched rice soup). A couple ordered one seafood abalone rice soup at 20,000 won and one maesaengi (fine seaweed) abalone rice soup and shared both, refilling every side dish from the self-serve bar before the mains arrived. When samgyetang and eel feel too repetitive, O Hyeongje is the easy-on-the-stomach nourishing meal to remember in Hanam Misa.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of nourishing food? For me it's always samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) or eel. But no matter how good something is for you, eating the same thing over and over gets a little tiring. Personally I prefer nourishing food that's hearty but easy on the stomach, rather than something greasy that leaves you feeling weighed down.
This time I found exactly that! O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch, on Misa-daero in Hanam. It's a scorched rice soup (nurungjitang) loaded with seafood, abalone, and even ginseng sprouts, so it feels like a proper full meal. It tasted great too — the kind of place I'd happily bring my parents back to.
Where is O Hyeongje in Hanam Misa, and what are the hours?

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is located at 616-1 Misa-daero, 1st floor, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. Current posted hours are 11:00 AM to 9:20 PM, with last order at 8:45 PM.

Parking and seating at O Hyeongje Hanam Misa
Since we drove there, parking mattered to us. O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch has plenty of parking space around the building, so it's easy to visit by car. There are also group tables, private rooms, and baby chairs, making it a good option for family meals with kids or a visit with parents.
How many kinds of nurungjitang are on the menu?

Looking at the menu, there were far more rice soup varieties than I expected. On top of the basic seafood rice soup, there's seafood abalone, mung bean abalone, maesaengi abalone, and jeongabok (mixed seafood) rice soup. There are also cooked dishes to share, like tenderloin sweet-and-sour pork (tangsuyuk), yurinki, chili shrimp, and palbochae. If you're visiting with a group, adding one cooked dish to the rice soups makes for a hearty spread.

The two of us each ordered what we personally wanted — I went for the seafood abalone rice soup, and my husband ordered the maesaengi abalone rice soup.
Self-serve side dish bar: all refilled before the mains arrived

There was something else I liked even before the main dishes came out — the basic side dishes. No matter how good the main is, it's a little disappointing when the sides that come with it aren't great.

But at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch, even the basic side dishes were neat and tasty. And there's a self-serve bar too — no need to keep asking staff for more, you just take what you want.

The food came out fast, but the sides were so good we cleared them out and refilled every single one before the mains even arrived, haha.
Seafood abalone rice soup, 20,000 won

The seafood abalone rice soup I ordered is currently priced at ₩20,000. It's the restaurant's signature dish, a rice soup packed with various seafood and topped with abalone and ginseng sprouts. Doesn't the name alone sound like it'll make you healthier, haha?

The soup arrives bubbling hot and looks incredibly appetizing just from the visual. The broth carries deep seafood umami, and the scorched rice soaks up the broth, getting softer and softer — that's the charm of it.

At first, enjoy the distinctive crunch of the scorched rice. Wait a bit and it turns soft, having soaked up plenty of broth.
Add the abalone on top and it stops feeling like a simple bowl of rice soup — it becomes a proper nourishing meal. And oddly, it didn't feel heavy afterward at all. I think that's its biggest strength.
What does the maesaengi abalone rice soup taste like?
My husband picked something a bit more unique — the maesaengi (fine seaweed) abalone rice soup. It's described as the seafood abalone rice soup base with maesaengi added to the broth, so you can enjoy its distinctive aroma. And you know I wasn't going to skip trying his, haha.

I tried a bite and it definitely had a different feel from mine. With maesaengi added, the ocean aroma came through even more, and the soft texture stood out.

If you usually like maesaengi soup, this might be the one for you. If you're visiting as a couple, ordering one of each and sharing them like we did seems like a great approach.
A nourishing meal in Hanam beyond samgyetang and eel

One thought kept coming to me as I ate — why had I only ever thought of samgyetang and eel as nourishing food? With seafood and abalone in a hot broth along with scorched rice, one bowl feels really satisfying. And it's not overly greasy or heavy afterward.
So I'd especially recommend this to anyone looking for lighter nourishing food. It's not too much even for kids or parents to eat together, and since each person can order their own bowl, it also works well as a family dining option.

If you're in Hanam and looking for somewhere to take your parents or want a slightly different kind of nourishing meal, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is worth remembering. My husband and I each had a different rice soup that day and both left very happy. Next time I'd like to bring my parents and order the rice soups along with a generous plate of tenderloin tangsuyuk 😊 If you're a little tired of samgyetang or eel, try warming up with a hot bowl of rice soup packed with abalone and seafood instead!
