Danyang café for kids: garlic chocolate laugh challenge at JB Coffee
In short
JB Coffee is a dessert café facing the lake in Danyang, Chungbuk, known for garlic-shaped desserts. The family ordered all three flavors of Maneulinjul Aratdanyang ("I thought it was garlic") — banana, melon and strawberry, 10,000 won each — poured espresso over them, and filmed a keep-a-straight-face challenge with the kids over the garlic-shaped white chocolate hidden under the ice cream. With a figurine display case on the second-floor rooftop, JB Coffee suits families with children especially well.

Hi everyone~ it's Tom, hooked once again by Jerry. The autumn weather has been so nice lately that I went on a trip to Danyang, and I wanted to introduce a café I stopped by. It's a pretty, fun dessert spot that uses (?) Danyang's specialty product, garlic — JB Coffee, right in front of the Danyang lake.
Where is JB Coffee in Danyang, and what are its hours and parking?

A Danyang bingsu café with a name that makes you laugh 🧄

I found JB Coffee while searching for Danyang cafés, and the menu name alone was already fun. "Maneulinjul Aratdanyang" (I thought it was garlic) is introduced as Danyang's representative signature dessert — an ice cream dessert paired with strong espresso. We all burst out laughing the moment we saw the name. 😆 Instead of bingsu, we ordered all three flavors!

Looks like the owner delivers in person! There's a cute scooter out front, and there's even a separate delivery time window!
Figurines on the first floor and the second-floor rooftop

JB Coffee is split into two floors — the 1st floor has the ordering counter and seating, and the 2nd floor is set up somewhat like a rooftop, so we naturally sat upstairs. The moment we went up, there were figurines everywhere. It seemed to be the owner's personal hobby — the display cases were packed full of all kinds of figurines, and it was genuinely fun to look around!

The kids never got bored while waiting for the garlic dessert since they were busy looking at the figurines, and even though I'm not really into it, it was surprisingly fun to browse too? We had a relaxing time in Danyang, with its great scenery and generous hospitality, for the first time in a while!
Three flavors of the garlic-shaped dessert at JB Coffee

This dessert was so pretty it was great for photos too. The yellow 'garlic' is soft banana ice cream paired with espresso, the melon-colored one is refreshing melon ice cream, and the red one is sweet strawberry ice cream — each served with espresso. They say it's premium espresso paired with the ice cream, and since we ordered all three and shared, it was fun comparing the flavors.

Once you pour the espresso over it, it really looks like black garlic~~~🧄 The ice cream was almost sorbet-like, so the kids could enjoy it too, and since espresso comes with it, adults can enjoy it affogato-style as well.
What are the garlic pieces? White chocolate 🧄

There are 3 pieces of 'garlic' hidden under the ice cream. At first I really thought it was actual garlic, but the owner explained — it was white chocolate! 🍫 Isn't it a fun point that they brought Danyang's fame for garlic to life through dessert like this ✔️🤣

The garlic chocolate laugh challenge with the kids
The kids found this incredibly novel and fun once they saw it. All four of us put a piece of the garlic chocolate in our mouths at the same time and had a contest over who could act most convincingly like they were really eating garlic, filming it on video. The rule was whoever lost composure and burst out laughing first lost — and everyone was in chaos trying not to crack up~ It's fun, you should definitely try it!
Is JB Coffee worth a visit with kids?

It was garlic, but it was chocolate, Danyang.
Who knew Danyang's specialty product, garlic, could be transformed into such a pretty dessert~ Great idea, right 👍 I recommend this Danyang café. It seems like a fun place to stop by for a unique dessert experience. 💛
