The biggest perk of this Dongnae Lotte department store restaurant is that, since it's inside a department store, there's no break time It's always open even at awkward hours, so you can eat any time And when you get hungry mid-shopping, or finish up at the culture center right around mealtime, you can just casually walk in — the vibe is comfortable yet clean and tidy too

The hall is quite spacious, so the tables are well spaced out and there are plenty of seats — felt nice and roomy Near the cooking counter there are also bar-table seats

Soon after, the vegetable salad and tofu salad arrived Perfect as a pre-meal appetizer The tofu salad came with a nutty dressing drizzled on, soft and mild

The vegetable salad had a sweet-and-sour dressing that was refreshing and tangy — really woke up the appetite

16 pieces of sushi: the 'good' versus the 'even better' selection

First up, the 16-piece sushi set White fish, salmon, shrimp, eel, egg — all the standard sushi varieties And if there's a particular kind you want, you can order it separately à la carte too

The fish cuts were seriously generous — not too thick, not too thin When ordering, there's an option for 'good' or 'even better' grade sushi If you want a slightly higher quality bite, go with 'even better' I just went with 'good' and it was fine, so next time I'm going to try 'even better' haha

Next came the roe rice bowl and the fried udon The set menu I ordered let me pick one noodle dish Udon and mool naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) are free, but yaki udon has a 4,000-won add-on fee — worth it since it's delicious, so I forgive it

The sizzling sound of it crackling against the hot stone bowl grabs your ears first

Loaded with plenty of shredded crab stick, plus pickled radish and kimchi on the side — no complaints at all

Even more bean sprouts and vegetables than the plump udon noodles themselves, plus a good variety of seafood — squid, clam meat, shrimp, and so on — with a nice smoky wok-hei flavor too

Is one set enough food for two people?

I worried the portion might fall short while eating the sushi, but nope — we came home stuffed Just ordering sushi alone can feel a bit lacking, but with noodles and rice included in the set like this, the satisfaction and fullness were on another level
