Bundang pho restaurant taste test of three bowls: Kkamon Jeongja

The temperature swing between morning and night lately is just crazy ㄷㄷㄷㄷㄷ freezing in the morning, hot in the afternoon, absolutely chaotic🌀

My throat felt a little scratchy, so instead of something cold I really wanted a warm soup to heat me up from the inside, so I went to Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store for some hot pho🍜

While we were eating, takeout and delivery orders kept coming in — the turnover was insane👏👏👏 endless deliveryㅋㅋㅋㅋ

On the table were hoisin sauce and chili sauce that go well with pho🥢 as well as 🌶Vietnamese chili peppers, so you can add flavor to your taste >.<

At the self-serve bar, pickled onions and danmuji are ready if you need extra😊

Especially surprising was how the pickled onions weren't soggy — crisp and full of moisture😛 hehe😝

A hearty dish with tender-cooked pork backbone in a rich broth

I wondered if it'd be mostly bone with barely any meat, but there was actually quite a lot of meat clinging to the bone, apparently fun to pick at🥰 (I had the braised pork pho, though)

Cooked so tender the meat came right off with chopsticks, no gamey smell, clean and delicious quality backbone🥩

The broth wasn't spicy at all — a mild broth, good for anyone who likes non-intense pho or can't handle spicy food😚😚😚 😇I'm the type who says 'just one bite' and then steals two or three moreㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The broth was refreshing and so tasty! Eating the noodles with the meat together was amazing😝😝😝 (my friend really hates the 'just one bite' habit😂) ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Braised pork shank pho, 14,000 won: prime-grade shank in a clear, peppery broth

A prime-grade braised shank pho you can enjoy healthily, with deep flavor from being simmered thoroughly in the broth

My personal favorite of the three was the braised pork shank pho❣️ The prime-grade shank quality was 💦soft and moist moist💦 absolutely thumbs up👍 thumbs up👍💚

The broth was clear and refreshing, with red chili giving it a subtle kick — and since I love that clear-yet-spicy combo, I was very satisfied! Truly refreshing and clean-tasting broth💫 Not a heavy spiciness, just a slight kick following the clear broth🌶 fine even for those who can't handle much heat!

Autumn squid pho, 13,000 won: clear, sweet seafood broth

An autumn-season pho topped with plump squid and shrimp. Deep, rich broth with chewy squid and soft noodles. A hearty bowl that comes to mind especially in autumn!🍂

The autumn seasonal squid pho came with 🦑squid and shrimp🦐 along with vegetables and egg

The broth was less like a deep, rich beef broth and closer to a clear seafood broth reminiscent of sweet, familiar fish cake soup....😇😇😇 In a word, it's like fish cake soup pho ㅋㅋㅋ😇😇😇😇😇

The shrimp were plump and delicious❣️ If you're expecting a rich meat-broth pho it might feel like a different direction, but if you like a clear, sweet seafood broth, it's an easy, warm dish to enjoy.

Personally, since I'm a meat-broth person, 🍜the braised pork shank pho and pork backbone pho suited my taste a bit more :)

Which of the three pho bowls should you order?

Having tried all three, the 🥢braised pork shank pho was my personal top pick for both meat quality and broth flavor! If you want a generous amount of meat with a mild broth, go for the backbone pho; if you like a sweet, clear seafood broth, try the autumn-only squid pho❣️

Overall the portions were generous, the bean sprouts and pickled onions were fresh, and it's great that they run late without a break time👍💚 With parking support too, this is a pho restaurant worth visiting in Bundang for office lunches, solo dining, family meals, and dinner after work — Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store!
