Tamra Hansang Seogwipo
A hearty, well-rounded basic set 🕰️ Hours: Daily 10:00–22:00 🚗 Parking available (3 spots in front of the restaurant; outside parking available at Socar Hotel The M)
On my Jeju trip I had truly delicious braised cutlassfish, and it was at Tamra Hansang, right in Seogwipo. Beyond the great braised cutlassfish, I was super satisfied with the friendly service and the excellent basic side dish spread. Here's my honest review of Tamra Hansang!

Arriving late in the evening: the local Seogwipo mood at Tamra Hansang
I visited quite late in the evening, and there were already people who'd finished dinner and left, while customers kept steadily coming in even as closing time approached on a weekday. It seemed to be famous as a local favorite in Seogwipo.

Which set to order at Tamra Hansang? Choosing the braised cutlassfish set
I liked that Tamra Hansang has such a varied menu with lots of options for different tastes. It was also nice that all the dishes were special items you can only enjoy in Jeju. I was torn between grilled and braised cutlassfish, but the owner recommended the braised version, saying the seasoning was delicious, so I went with the braised cutlassfish set.

Clean and tidy through and through ✨ One reason I want to recommend Tamra Hansang — there are several, but one is that the quality of the various table settings is really outstanding. Let me show you below!

What comes with the set: soy-marinated shrimp, fried cutlassfish and mackerel sashimi
Alongside the basic side dishes to eat with rice, there was also soy-marinated shrimp, salad, meat, and more, all served together.

Fried cutlassfish made from plump fillets came out as a basic dish. Just looking at the batter, you could tell they used really clean oil. There's no way that visual doesn't taste good ✨

Even eaten plain, it was crisp outside and moist and tender inside — really delicious — but dipping it in the accompanying sauce made it even better 🤍

The table setting wasn't done yet — sashimi came out last, and since the restaurant manages its own fish tank, the sashimi itself was incredibly fresh!

Mackerel sashimi wrapped in seaweed with spicy cheongyang chili and pickled onions — the best 😚 The quality of the mackerel sashimi included in the basic set was really excellent.
Since I'm in Jeju, of course, Hallasan soju! Drinks and alcohol are self-service.

How the braised cutlassfish tastes, with potato and gingko hot pot rice
Tamra Hansang's braised cutlassfish, simmered down in a sweet, spicy sauce until it was thick and glossy. At a glance you could see big chunks of cutlassfish packed in.

The rice also came as hot pot rice, topped with potato and gingko nuts together. I could feel how much care went into every single part of the meal, and it really felt like a proper full table setting 🤍
This hot pot rice was also incredibly delicious, and I understood why they bothered adding potato. The fluffy texture and sweetness of the potato were so good!

And it seemed like they used the same potato in the braised cutlassfish too, because the potato in the braise was also incredibly tasty!

The tender cutlassfish flesh came off easily with a spoon and chopsticks, so I could eat it without any hassle. It would've been great grilled too, but thanks to Tamra Hansang's special seasoning, I really felt like ordering it braised was the right call 🤍 The sauce had a strong spicy, thick flavor, with the added sweetness of the potato and radish themselves — a total rice thief of a sauce. I really hope you get to try Tamra Hansang's braised cutlassfish sometime ><

Free mussel seaweed soup and the snacks by the register
And this is the mussel seaweed soup they gave us for free — thanks to it, I felt like I got a proper hangover cure at the end, haha.
At the register, they were also selling snacks in cute packaging, which seemed like a nice thing to buy for kids if you visit with family!!

Tamra Hansang in Seogwipo really nails both value and taste with a solid, well-rounded spread. The lineup is so good it also seems like a great place to take your parents. I'd recommend it as a family dining spot and a Korean restaurant to try near Jeju's Olle Market 😊
