Dog-friendly Korean BBQ in Hanam: five-layer pork belly, Ikkjujeokku

In short

Ikkjujeokku is a camping-concept Korean BBQ restaurant on Gwangam-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi, with three kinds of space: a charcoal hall, a griddle hall and six outdoor tent booths. On a weekend return visit with her parents, the writer ordered 300g of five-layer pork belly (₩5,900 per 100g) with river snail ssamjang and bibim naengmyeon in the griddle hall, and dogs are welcome in the six tents as long as they are leashed. Because you can pick the space that suits your mood, Ikkjujeokku is an easy choice for a family meal out.

I went back to Ikkjujeokku, a Hanam BBQ spot, with my parents over the weekend. Ikkjujeokku is short for 'grill this too, grill that too.'

It's a camping-concept outdoor-dining restaurant with a griddle hall, a charcoal hall, and outdoor tent seating all in one place, where you can eat pork belly, pork neck, and frozen-then-grilled pork belly at very reasonable prices.

With the summer heat easing, it's the perfect weather for grilling pork belly outdoors in the evening — if you want to feel like you're camping, I'd recommend giving it a try. And dogs are welcome (except indoors).

Where is Ikkjujeokku in Hanam, and is there parking?

Ikkjujeokku is at 5 Gwangam-ro148beon-gil, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. Free parking is available in front of the restaurant.

Ikkjujeokku has a charcoal-only hall, a griddle hall, and an outdoor area all set up separately. There are 14 indoor tables, two private rooms for 6, one for 8, and group seating for up to 56.

You can book through Naver. Outdoor seats can fill up fast during weekend peak hours, so I'd recommend booking ahead. For groups or times outside business hours, call to inquire.

Ikkjujeokku's signature space, six tents run with a romantic camping vibe, is where dogs are allowed. Leashes are required though.

In winter they had a fire lit right in the middle, but since it's summer, they had a fan running instead.

The mini convenience store inside the restaurant

Ikkjujeokku runs its own mini convenience store, selling ramyeon, frozen snacks, ice cream, various treats, and drinks. It's a unique touch I haven't seen at other restaurants. Everything is self-serve — you buy it and cook it yourself.

The signature dishes are the pork belly + pork neck + baby octopus set for 2–4 people, Jeju white pork five-layer belly, pork belly, pork neck, and baby octopus (2 people minimum).

Sides include kimchi jjigae, steamed egg, naengmyeon (cold noodles), abalone snail ssamjang, and rice, plus various alcohol and drinks (drinks and alcohol are all self-serve). Corkage is ₩10,000 per bottle.

Orders are placed via tablet or QR code. There's a ₩3,000 discount event for writing a Naver review!

You don't have to order everything here — you can bring your own ingredients to grill from home, meat, seafood, whatever. The restaurant provides the charcoal and grill plate. They even let you bring in delivery food.

Note: there's a ₩7,000 per-person table fee, but it drops to ₩3,000 per person if you order 200g or more of meat per person.

Table setup in the griddle hall

Last time I used the outdoor tent seating, but this time I used the griddle hall. A BBQ place really needs a stone griddle, right (?) — the advantage of the griddle is you can grill seasoned vegetables alongside the meat, and you can order fried rice too.

Self-serve banchan bar

Self-serve bar with banchan and ssam vegetables

Side dishes, ssam vegetables, water, alcohol, drinks, and tableware are all free to grab at the self-serve bar, but leftover banchan may incur an environmental fee, so it's good manners to only take what you'll eat. I liked that there were plenty of banchan and ssam vegetables ready.

Griddle-hall guests get bracken fern and bean sprouts. Wasabi, salt, and two kinds of sauce are served, and you can grab more from the self-serve bar once you finish. Like last time, I felt the meat was good quality and on the thicker side.

Even though it's pork, the juices were still there and it was tender. Being thick, it had a nice chew :) Pairing it with vegetables cooked in the dripping fat cuts through the richness completely and makes it even more delicious — one of the perks of a cast-iron griddle.

Naengmyeon always pairs so well with pork belly. All the side dishes were tasty too. That abalone snail ssamjang especially was the best. It was packed with abalone snails, and the salty umami was so good.

My dad usually stops eating once he's full, but he cleaned his plate of pork belly, rice, and naengmyeon all the way through. He must have really enjoyed it.

Charcoal, griddle, camping tents — a restaurant with three concepts you can choose to suit your mood. Recommending Hanam's Ikkjujeokku BBQ ♡
