Pork omakase in Suwon's Ingye-dong with angelica pesto: Jipbul Taebaek
In short
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Nahyeseok-geori in Ingye-dong, Suwon, where staff sear the meat over a straw fire and then grill it at your table. An early dinner at 6pm covered pork belly, pork jowl and beef skirt (anchang-sal) with a side of cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and the neungi mushroom pesto and angelica root pesto served alongside the meat were the most memorable part. The grilling service felt like a pork omakase, which makes Jipbul Taebaek a place to return to for meat in Ingye-dong.

I'm Haetbly, and I love hunting down good restaurants~~♡ Writing this to keep a record and share it with you all!
This place is popular enough that new branches keep popping up fast, and since there was one in Suwon, I had to check it out. I was looking for good food on Nahyeseok-geori in Ingye-dong and ended up here — and honestly, I was so satisfied. It was so good that I want this to be my only meat spot from now on!
Since it just opened in July, everything felt super clean and the quality was excellent. Here's my review of Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, which was genuinely delicious and lovely!
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch
Where is Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, and when did we go?
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is a 6-minute walk from Suwon City Hall Station, on Nahyeseok-geori in Ingye-dong. They're open from lunch onward, so it's great for lunch or even day drinking!! I went for an early-ish dinner around 6pm!
You could tell right from the exterior that a lot of thought went into the interior design!!

What is the dining room at Jipbul Taebaek like?
I really liked the interior atmosphere at Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch too. Overall it felt clean but still had that comfortable, cozy feel unique to a Korean BBQ restaurant, and it was easy to chat while eating.

The tables were spaced out generously so I could eat at ease, and the vibe suited the straw-fire grilling concept well. It felt like they cared about the atmosphere just as much as the food, so it would work well for dates, gatherings, or company dinners!! Especially compared to a regular BBQ place where you just grill meat yourself, both the mood and the service here were different, which made it more memorable!!

What we ordered: pork belly, pork jowl, beef skirt and cheonggukjang
I took the menu photos as a slideshow! You can swipe through to see everything!! I got all the prices and menu items on camera!! I ordered pork belly, pork jowl, and beef skirt (anchang-sal). I also ordered the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and I couldn't believe that's just a side dish!! It was packed with ingredients and tasted amazing, so I'll definitely order it again next time!!

How do you eat the neungi mushroom pesto and angelica pesto with the meat?
Before the main dishes came out, Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch set up the side dishes like this. All the sides were tasty, but what stuck with me most were the neungi mushroom pesto and angelica root pesto!! I'd never had pesto like this before so I was a little worried, but eating it the way they explained, it paired with the meat so perfectly that I actually wanted to try making it myself!
The neungi mushroom pesto especially had a distinctive aroma and depth, and adding just a little to the meat brought out a real burst of umami. The angelica pesto also had a unique scent, and eating it with the meat gave a completely different flavor that I loved. I kept thinking, how did they manage to bring out these flavors so well in a pesto — it made me feel genuinely looked after, and it was such a happy meal because of it.

If you run out of any side dish, you can just grab more from the side bar, and it was so clean, T_T. The vegetables were also really fresh, which I loved. And the scissors — sharp blade, good weight, they just looked really well made. Still, the meat was the most impressive part, of course!!

Straw-fire searing and the smoky aroma it gives the pork
Jipbul Taebaek sears the meat over a straw fire before bringing it out, then grills it right in front of you, and the subtle smoky scent that rose up was genuinely lovely! The meat got just the right hint of smokiness, which made the flavor so much richer!

I was curious how they got that aroma, so I took a photo of the kitchen too, hehe. The meat itself was so delicious, and having someone else grill it for me meant I got to enjoy it way better than if I'd done it myself — so convenient! Is this what a pork omakase would feel like?? Timing really matters with meat, and since they grilled it to exactly the right point, all I had to do was chat comfortably with my company and wait, then eat right away.

How does the tableside grilling service at Jipbul Taebaek work?
With the grilling service, staff who've gone through professional training grill the meat for you directly, and they kindly explained how to best enjoy each cut of meat — it wasn't just someone grilling on your behalf, but a service where they walked you through everything so you could really appreciate the flavor, which genuinely felt like being taken care of.
They grilled each piece one by one, timed it so I could eat it at its best, and even explained how to pair it with the sides — it felt distinctly different from the usual BBQ places I go to!! It wasn't just that the meat itself was delicious — getting to try different combinations with the various sides kept it interesting throughout the whole meal, so I never got tired of it.
And the staff were genuinely so kind! They explained everything so thoughtfully and grilled the meat perfectly themselves, so I could relax through the whole meal from start to finish. Service like this really does raise how satisfying the food feels.
Why Jipbul Taebaek is worth it for Korean BBQ on Nahyeseok-geori in Ingye-dong
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch impressed me on food, service, and atmosphere alike, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a special meat restaurant in Ingye-dong. I've eaten a lot of meat in Ingye-dong, but from now on, if I want meat there, this is where I'm going without question!
Personally, I really loved the subtle smoky aroma from the straw-fire grilling, and it was fun eating it alongside so many different side dishes. Above all, the neungi mushroom pesto and angelica pesto are flavors I'm still thinking about, and I'd want to have them again next time I visit.
If you're looking for good food on Nahyeseok-geori in Ingye-dong, this is a place worth visiting!! If you want a special meal enjoying delicious meat in a great atmosphere, I'd recommend this spot. Saving it as my go-to place!!
