Dongseong-ro shrimp pasta for a first date in Daegu: Palette Hannam

Sitting at a sunny window seat with delicious food, and with someone who makes me happy just being there — it was the best possible meal. It's on the 2nd floor of the building, right in the heart of Dongseong-ro, so it's easy to get to. Whether you're coming from Banwoldang or Jungangno, it's smack in the middle so it's easy to find. Nearby you'll find Spark Land and 228 Park, so there's plenty to do before or after your meal.

The moment you climb the stairs, you feel a warm, cozy vibe. The full-length mirror was so pretty too — totally my style!

I went on a weekday opening run, so it was relatively quiet, and I got to photograph the interior in detail. The overall look is bright with rounded, comfortable furniture,

and marble-look tables that add a touch of luxury — a restaurant sprinkled with a good dose of mood. Looking around the whole place, it's really perfect for a blind date or a date. A great atmosphere makes those butterflies-in-your-stomach moments even better, right?

There's a self bar stocked with free pickles, cutlery, cups, utensils, tissues, and wet wipes. Neatly set up.

I ordered shrimp rosé pasta for 17,800 won and basil shrimp pasta for 17,900 won. Besides these, there's a wide variety of Western dishes — steak, omurice (rice omelet), gnocchi, salad, pizza, and more.

Our order arrived. When I make it at home it never looks this pretty — a pro's touch really is different. It looked so good I almost felt bad touching it.

Shrimp rosé pasta, 17,800 won

✔️Shrimp rosé pasta: full of plump, big shrimp in a rich, smooth-tasting sauce. It's also sprinkled with savory grated cheese, so every bite comes with a deep cheesy flavor too.

I twirled the noodles up for a bite, then picked up the big shrimp with a fork. I'd come on an empty stomach, and the warm dish quickly filled me right up.

Basil shrimp pasta, 17,900 won

✔️Shrimp basil pasta: full of basil aroma, with cooked cherry tomatoes, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, and plump shrimp throughout. Look at how prettily the noodles are twirled — I couldn't bear to disturb it, so I filled up my camera roll with photos instead. The basil flavor and just-right saltiness went really well with the noodles and shrimp.

Every bite brings up a wave of basil fragrance — a pasta I'd recommend to anyone who loves basil. You can taste the richness of olive oil layered with a deep flavor.

It felt fresh to visit such a charming, atmospheric restaurant again after a while. I'd guess this is probably the best spot in the area for a new couple or a blind date. Western dishes everyone likes, pretty visuals, and a bright interior — I think couples, families, and even kids would all enjoy this place. That was Palette Hannam, a great pasta restaurant in Dongseong-ro, Daegu.
