Uijeongbu family café in a converted house with themed rooms: Forerest
In short
Forerest is a large forest-view café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, set inside a big converted house where each room has its own concept, with a lot that holds more than 50 cars. A family of five came after 3pm, following a galbi lunch in Nowon, and ordered an iced milk tea, iced chocolate, iced vanilla latte, iced Americano and a black sesame Basque cheesecake for 33,900 won total, then talked for a long while at a window seat. On a day when driving far from Seoul feels like too much, Forerest was an easy suburban drive stop to sit and stay.

This time I got to spend some relaxed time with family after a while. My younger brother was on leave, so we all decided to have lunch together as a family.

After eating ribs in Nowon, it felt a little disappointing to just head straight home, haha. So we looked for somewhere we could have coffee and chat and rest with the family, and found a café in Uijeongbu that's great for a suburban drive near Seoul — so we went straight there!

Forerest is a great place to visit by car, so it worked out well for us as a family drive destination too. Especially when moving as a family, parking is a surprisingly important factor when choosing a café, and since the parking space was spacious, there was no stress about it 🚘
Inside the converted house on Nogyang-ro: Forerest's exterior and themed rooms

The first thing I felt as soon as I stepped inside the entrance of Forerest was a very nature-friendly atmosphere 🌿

Since it's located in a quiet forest area near Seoul, I thought it was a space well designed so you could step away from the densely packed city buildings for a moment and rest while looking out at nature 💭

+) It's a dog-friendly café, so there were people with their dogs in the outdoor seating too 🐶

But after taking in the outdoor scenery and heading inside, a suddenly modern space bursting with Pinterest vibes appeared!

It's set up in a large converted house, and each room is decorated with a different concept, which felt so good...

You could also see the outdoor scenery from inside, and since there was plenty of space, the seating was generous too~

We visited after 3pm and sat in an indoor seat, and everyone around us was drinking their drinks and chatting, or just sitting comfortably and resting — the whole atmosphere was so relaxed and unhurried that it put my mind at ease too, haha.
What a family of five ordered at Forerest, and what it cost

The menu was pretty varied, so we each picked the drink we wanted and decided to share the signature cheesecake together too 😋

What we ordered that day was a black sesame Basque cheesecake for ₩8,000, an iced milk tea for ₩6,800, an iced chocolate for ₩6,800, an iced vanilla latte for ₩6,800, and an iced Americano for ₩5,500, coming to ₩33,900 total 🍽️
Iced milk tea, chocolate, vanilla latte or Americano: which was best?

Ta-da~ Isn't the visual so pretty >_< Since there were several of us in the family, the drink orders naturally became varied, which actually was nice since we got to try a bunch of different ones.

(Hehe, snagged a window seat with great light ✨)
First, the iced milk tea I ordered was completely beyond expectations!!! I'm a total milk tea lover so I'm picky about it, but this one was just sweet enough and mellow, perfectly matching my taste 🧋 (Made it into my recent top 3 milk teas, whoa)

My youngest sibling ordered the iced chocolate and said it was cool and sweet with a rich chocolate flavor, and delicious 🍫

The vanilla latte my mom ordered was a solid pick if you like a sweet, smooth latte.

The Americano was my dad's pick, for when you want a clean, straightforward coffee, and this one was good too ☕️

What does Forerest's black sesame Basque cheesecake taste like?
And the thing I was looking forward to most that day was the dessert! The black sesame Basque cheesecake 🧀

At Forerest, they say the cheesecakes are made in-house and refrigerated for 16 hours before serving. The black sesame Basque cheesecake we ordered had a gentle, nutty black sesame aroma unlike a typical cheesecake, and

looking at the cross-section, you could see the distinctive black specks of black sesame dotted throughout. With the dense yet soft texture unique to Basque cheesecake and the deep, nutty black sesame flavor, it was the kind of taste anyone could enjoy easily, and it disappeared in no time ^_^
Is Forerest worth a family drive from Seoul?
That day, even without doing anything special, just sitting together as a family and talking slowly while resting was healing in itself 🌱 There are so many nicely decorated cafés these days, but a café where you can sit comfortably and talk for a long time like this is really rare...!!!
Traveling far from Seoul can feel like too much, but on a day when you just want a bit of fresh air, I'd recommend this as a suburban drive course :)
