I found this place while wandering around a Seongsu-dong pop-up, looking for something special to eat alongside my coffee.

Where is Bocado Butter Seongsu Main Store?

Bocado Butter Seongsu Main Store sits in a back alley off Yeonmujang-gil, a street packed with restaurants. Apparently Bocado Butter can only be tasted here in Seongsu-dong.

At first, seeing just the name, I wondered — what even is a bocado butter? It didn't sound like a typical cake or salt bread, so curiosity got the better of me and I went to check it out.

The coffee reviews were good too, and since bocado is a crisp dessert, it felt like something light and easy to eat.

Bocado baked fresh in the open kitchen

Watching the bocado being baked in the open kitchen was a unique experience. Usually you just pick a dessert that's already made, but here you get it hot right out of the oven — it gave me the same excited, expectant feeling as waiting for a bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry).

When the line outside is long, you can also order and pay inside using a Toss machine.

Apparently "bocado" means "just one bite" in Spanish. They say it's a dessert that leaves a deep impression with just that one bite.

Inside the store there's also a bar table and low seating, so there's plenty of room to eat with friends, a partner, or coworkers. It's also a nice spot to enjoy a light coffee alone.

If you want to wash your hands after eating bocado, the store has a nicely designed spot inside for that too — very convenient.

The spotless kitchen was one of the most memorable things about this café.

How does the Bocado Couple Set taste?

The moment the Bocado Couple Set arrived, the visuals caught my eye first. It looked different from the desserts I usually eat, so I ended up taking a ton of photos. The distinctive soft, nutty buttery flavor of Bocado Butter, with a touch of sweetness, made a strong impression from the very first bite.

Personally, when I eat something sweet or buttery, I like pairing it with a clean, refreshing americano. Bocado Butter was no exception — it balanced really well with iced americano. The coffee reset the nutty, rich flavor of the dessert each time, so I could enjoy it all the way through without it feeling heavy.

10 pieces of bocado + 2 americanos for ₩15,000. Great value for the price, and you get to enjoy a generous amount of light but richly buttery bocado — I highly recommend it.

Is the 1,500-won coconut dipping cream worth adding?

Dipping it in the coconut cream made the flavor richer and even more nutty.

If you try it and think of someone to gift it to, it comes packaged in a nice box, so it would make a lovely gift for someone special.

Who is this Seongsu dessert café best for?

Seongsu-dong already has tons of famous cafés and dessert spots, but if the usual menus start feeling a bit repetitive, trying something less common like Bocado Butter could be a nice change. If you're visiting as a pair like we did, I'd recommend the Bocado Couple Set with iced americano. If you're taking a break from a Seongsu-dong pop-up or shopping trip, or just curious about a different kind of dessert, this place is worth a stop.
