Yeongdeungpo second-round bar with mango bingsu: Ho Samchon

We were looking for somewhere for round two in Yeongdeungpo and ended up at Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch! True to a Yeongdeungpo bar, the anju (drinking snacks) menu was pretty varied, so we ordered tomato hangover pasta stew, jjagyechi, and even mango bingsu :)

The food was good, but once we actually got there, the atmosphere and seating layout were great too — a solid spot for a date or drinks with friends.

Where is Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch and how do you get there?

Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo is in the middle of the bar district where Yeongdeungpo's drinking spots cluster, on the second floor of the building.

The big orange Ho Samchon sign is visible from outside, so it wasn't hard to find once we got close. Climb the stairs to the second floor and the vibe completely changes, haha.

Inside Ho Samchon: pink lighting and a phone booth entrance

The first thing that caught our eye walking in was the pink lighting and the entrance styled like a red phone booth. Overall it felt less like a generic pojangmacha (street-tent bar) and more like a done-up Yeongdeungpo bar.

There were plenty of tables and the place itself was spacious, so it seemed fine for a date as a couple or for a Yeongdeungpo group hangout. In fact, when we were there, a few tables were celebrating birthdays lol.

Best of all, the music wasn't too loud. Honestly, a lot of bars crank the music so much you can't even hear the person next to you lol. Here it kept the mood up without making conversation hard, so it was easy to chat and drink with my boyfriend!

There were window seats too, and the interior was styled nicely enough for photos, so it suited a Yeongdeungpo date-bar vibe well.

Restroom, blankets and tablet ordering at Ho Samchon

The restroom was tucked inside the store and was kept clean overall. The mirror was decorated cutely enough that I ended up taking a photo, haha.

Blankets were set out on one side, so anyone who runs cold can just grab one! These little details actually matter a lot at a bar :)

You order through the tablet at your table, so there's no need to flag down staff — convenient. And the complimentary snack was chicken-leg-shaped crackers.

This is basically the foundation of complimentary bar snacks lol. Nothing special, but you keep reaching for it.

The three dishes two people ordered at Ho Samchon

What we ordered that day was tomato hangover pasta stew, jjagyechi, and mango bingsu — three things total. We originally planned on just two anju, but ended up finishing off with mango bingsu too, haha.

Tomato hangover pasta stew: a soupy anju you eat by the spoonful

The first thing we ordered was the tomato hangover pasta stew, which looked like one of Ho Samchon's popular menu items. It comes in a big pot with pasta noodles topped with shrimp and other seafood, so it looked hearty right off the bat. The broth is tomato-based, moderately tangy with a slight kick, and went well with drinking.

What I liked was that it isn't just noodles like regular pasta — there's plenty of broth you can spoon up, haha. Especially with soju, you need a hot spoonful of broth every so often lol. With seafood and noodles both in there, it was pretty filling as a single anju.

It comes with baguette too, and dipping it into the tomato broth with a shrimp on top was also delicious :) If you're hunting for a good Yeongdeungpo anju spot and like soupy dishes, this one would suit you well.

Jjagyechi: the noodle dish to order when you want carbs with drinks

Next was jjagyechi — jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) topped with a fried egg and cheese, exactly the familiar combo the name suggests, haha. Honestly it's hard for jjagyechi to taste bad, and when you're drinking you end up craving this kind of bold noodle dish anyway. The salty jjajang flavor got a bit softer as the cheese melted in, and with the egg it was quite filling.

If the tomato pasta stew was the soupy anju, jjagyechi was great to pick at in between when you're craving noodles. Between the two of us finishing both the pasta stew and jjagyechi, the portions were pretty substantial, haha.

Mango bingsu: finishing with dessert without leaving the bar

After a bit of drinking, we suddenly craved something cold and sweet, so we finished with mango bingsu. It had a generous pile of mango on top, along with cheese-looking cube toppings and colorful cereal, so it looked cute too.

The mango pieces were big, so it was nice to eat spoonful by spoonful with the ice, and after the salty, spicy anju earlier, finishing with sweet mango bingsu was the perfect palate cleanser :)

When you're too lazy to move somewhere else for dessert after drinking and eating anju, being able to wrap it all up in one place like this was convenient.

Is Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo good for a date or a group night out?

At first I thought of Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo as just another Yeongdeungpo bar with a lot of anju options, but once we actually went, the place was spacious and nicely decorated, so it worked well for a couple's date too. I especially liked that the music wasn't too loud, so we could talk while drinking, and with plenty of group tables, it also looked like a fine option for a friends' gathering or a birthday party.

We went looking for a decent-vibe bar in Yeongdeungpo, and it wasn't just the food that was good — the atmosphere and seating setup won us over too. It's not overwhelming for a date, and the space is wide enough for a bigger group of drinks too!

If you're visiting as a couple like we did, ordering one tomato hangover pasta stew, adding a side like jjagyechi, and finishing with mango bingsu was a solid combo :) If you're near Yeongdeungpo Station looking for a bar with good anju and easy conversation, this is worth a visit!!
