In short
Pastiar is a Western-style restaurant on the second floor of a building in a Yeonnam-dong alley in Mapo, Seoul, serving pasta, brunch and sous vide steak. For dinner with a friend, the writer ordered the Steak Set for Two (SET A) at 53,000 won, which came with sous vide steak, basil pesto pasta, a grapefruit ade and a lemon ade. Homemade sauces and a cozy, well-decorated interior make Pastiar a good pick for a date or a night out with friends.

I was looking for somewhere to have dinner with a friend and ended up at Pastiar, a nice-vibe restaurant in Yeonnam-dong. It's on the second floor of a building tucked in an alley, so you have to watch for the entrance — but once you climb the stairs, a completely different atmosphere opens up from what you'd expect looking at it from outside.
Pastiar isn't just a pasta place — it's more of a Western-style restaurant where you can enjoy pasta, brunch and steak all together.

How to find Pastiar on the second floor of a Yeonnam-dong alley
Pastiar sits at 3 Donggyo-ro 38an-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 2nd floor. The sign is visible right from the front of the building, so it was easier to find than I expected.

Right from the entrance there's Pastiar's signature logo and flower decorations, giving it a slightly more charming feel than your average pasta place.

Inside Pastiar: atmosphere and seating
The atmosphere at Pastiar was really nice. The first thing that caught my eye walking in was the interior — beige walls, wood tables, green plants scattered around and warm lighting all coming together for a space that felt comfortable but still had a bit of ambience.
There are window seats, tables good for 2–4 people, and bigger tables for larger groups. I was surprised to spot a younger friend of mine eating at a window seat — haha (she told me later the salmon was really fresh and delicious).

Paintings and photos hang on the walls, and there's even a chandelier, giving it a slightly more charming feel than your typical pasta place.

It's fun just looking at the artwork, too. Overall it's not overly fancy or formal — more like a European home-style restaurant, comfortable yet charming, which makes it a great fit for a date or a hangout with friends.
The rows of homemade fruit syrups on display
On one side of the restaurant there was a row of what looked like house-made fruit syrups. From lemon to grapefruit, the colors were so pretty they naturally caught my eye, and it got me excited for the ades.

A restaurant that makes its own sauces
Looking at the store's description, Pastiar emphasizes that it makes everything from sous vide steak to ragu sauce, tomato sauce and basil pesto in-house. The ragu sauce in particular is described as simmered for over three hours every day, and sous vide steak is one of their signature dishes. Not only is the menu extensive, but making all the sauces from scratch really seems to be what sets this place apart.
SET A Steak Set for Two ₩53,000 — sous vide steak + 1 pasta + 2 drinks

Pastiar menu and prices
Pastiar's menu turned out to be bigger than I expected. Pastas like bulgogi cream, shrimp toowoomba, basil pesto and shrimp rosé were mostly around ₩17,000, while ragu pasta was ₩20,000.
Mains included sous vide steak at ₩27,000, salmon plate at ₩30,000, lasagna at ₩22,000, shakshuka at ₩18,000, and gambas al ajillo at ₩20,000. If you want to try a few things at once like we did, there's also a set menu for two.

The steak set for two was ₩53,000, giving you a sous vide steak, a choice of one pasta, and two drinks.

Set drinks: grapefruit ade and lemon ade
With the set, you could choose 2 drinks from house wine (red/white), ade (lemon/grapefruit/green citron), or specialty tea (lemon hibiscus/peach blossom). Our picks: grapefruit ade and lemon ade.
The grapefruit ade had actual grapefruit segments in it, and the lemon ade had lemon slices — both super refreshing. They paired really well with heavier dishes like pasta and steak.

How was the sous vide steak at Pastiar?
The visuals alone were pretty generous. On a large plate, the sliced steak was piled on nicely, served alongside salad, tomato and carrot rapé.
The outside of the meat was nicely seared and golden-brown while the inside still had that juicy, tender texture.
You could pair it with the sauce served on the side, and eating it with the salad or carrot rapé gave you several different combinations within a single plate. Rather than just a lone piece of steak, the generous amount of vegetables made the whole plate feel substantial.
Yum. Ate well while soaking up the atmosphere.

The set pasta: basil pesto
For pasta, you could choose between bulgogi cream, basil pesto, shrimp rosé, or shrimp toowoomba. We went with the basil pesto pasta. Its bright green look immediately caught my eye — the pasta was topped with plenty of grated cheese, with arugula and tomato scattered around.

Pastiar says the basil pesto is also made in-house, so if you're a basil fan, this dish is worth keeping an eye on.

I personally love basil, so I really enjoyed this dish.

If the steak is the heavier main, the basil pesto pasta, topped with green vegetables and tomato, balanced it out well when we ordered both together.

Pastiar's receipt review event
Near the register, there was a receipt review event running — write a receipt review on Naver or Google and get a free americano. If you're planning to grab coffee after your meal, it might be worth joining in.
