Family dinner in Jonggak with honey cod and abalone risotto: Schedule

In short

Schedule Osteria is an Italian dining restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Jonggak Station Exit 5, on the 2nd floor of the iM Financial Center. Visiting with her mom, the writer had truffle cheese wheel tagliatelle, Wando abalone risotto, honey cod, ricotta cheese salad and lasagna, and the honey cod topped with a brûlée-style sugar coating stood out as sweet and salty. The price is a splurge, but it's the first place that comes to mind for a special-occasion family meal.

This weekend I had a family date planned in Jonggak. We do most of our family gatherings around Jonggak, and Schedule Osteria is already my go-to spot — I've been back several times! The atmosphere is upscale and the pasta is genuinely delicious, so my whole family loves it. This time, instead of our usual order, we tried the honey cod, and it was really good (it has a sugar coating on top like a brûlée..!). Let me start my happy Schedule Osteria review.

Where is Schedule Osteria — how far from Jonggak Station?

It's close to Jonggak Station, so it's super convenient to get to by public transit. There's an escalator when you come up, and the layout can be a bit confusing, so just make sure to find the escalator!

Great atmosphere and seating for a family gathering

The ceilings are high, so the view out the window is really pretty! There are tables for four and sofa seating that can fit a group, and the interior genuinely felt like some fancy dining spot in Europe. Green trees and sunlight coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows even gave it a relaxed feeling in the middle of the city.

What we ordered

  • Truffle cheese wheel tagliatelle
  • Wando abalone risotto
  • Ricotta cheese salad
  • Honey cod
  • Lasagna
Pre-meal baguette and truffle butter

After ordering, they bring out a warm baguette and truffle butter as a starter. Slathering the bread with that yellow butter was so good.

The cheese wheel performance, melted right in front of you

Before the main dishes, a staff member brings out a giant cheese wheel and puts on a performance, lightly torching the cheese in front of you and mixing in fresh pasta.

Fresh pasta being mixed into the cheese wheel

Watching the cheese melt into that thick, gooey texture right in front of me while they explained it was so fascinating haha. Apparently the cheese itself is really expensive, and maybe that's why the cheesy aroma had such great depth.

Finished truffle cheese wheel tagliatelle

Truffle cheese wheel tagliatelle

A cream pasta with strong truffle aroma from the very first bite! A rich, savory sauce paired with fresh tagliatelle made daily — you already know that combo can't be bad, right? The texture is really soft, and it goes surprisingly well with the cheese sauce. The noodles aren't regular pasta noodles but wide and chewy, more like kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), which pairs perfectly with the cream! This was my favorite dish, so I scraped the bowl clean 💛

Wando abalone risotto — the chewy barley texture is unusual

Second up was the Wando abalone risotto. There's a whole abalone in there, not just pieces~

Wando abalone risotto with a whole abalone on top

It's a risotto made with glutinous barley in abalone sauce, and the popping barley texture felt pretty unique. It reminded me exactly of eating barley rice, so it felt like a fusion Korean dish! The abalone sauce is very rich, and with the sea mustard powder on top, it had a deep ocean flavor that felt totally new!

A spoonful of chewy barley risotto topped with sea mustard powder

The big chunk of abalone on top wasn't chewy at all — it was soft and fresh~ I really think this is a dish my parents, especially my mom, would love! On the side we ordered honey cod and ricotta cheese salad.

Honey cod side dish torched on top

Honey cod — torched brûlée-style, sweet and salty

The honey cod was personally so delicious! The cod is grilled nice and golden, and the top is only torched on the surface like a brûlée! That part has this sweet, sugary crunch, so it's sweet-and-salty, sweet-and-salty.. The portion isn't huge but it's great for bite-sized eating.

Ricotta cheese salad piled high with ricotta

Ricotta cheese salad

The ricotta cheese salad had way more ricotta piled on than greens!? It was perfect for eating bite by bite like finger food.. The salty, savory flavor fills your mouth, and it goes even better if you eat it alongside the pasta and risotto in between bites!!

And then the cheese-loaded lasagna.. Honestly, given the price range, I hesitate to come often, but whenever I'm thinking about where to go for a special day, this place always comes to mind first!

A walk along Cheonggyecheon after the meal

I thought long and hard about where to go for a nice Jonggak date restaurant, and I think everyone will love this place — both the food and the performance are fun, with no downside! The location is especially great since it's perfect for walking after a meal. I ate until I was full and then went for a walk along Cheonggyecheon, which was just perfect.
