Isu Station gopchang restaurant for group dinners: Baekho Yangdaechang
In short
Baekho Yangdaechang is a grilled offal restaurant in the food alley by Isu Station in Dongjak, Seoul, specializing in yang (beef tripe), daechang (large intestine) and gopchang (small intestine). For a once-a-year reunion with a friend studying in Germany, the writer booked through Naver Reservation for 6pm on a Tuesday and ordered the assorted platter for 3 (tripe, large intestine, sliced beef belly) plus 2 servings of gopchang, with staff grilling and trimming every piece over charcoal. By 7pm Baekho Yangdaechang was full with a waitlist, so a reservation is essential for a group dinner near Isu Station.

Why Baekho Yangdaechang for a group dinner near Isu Station?
I took a trip into Seoul after a long while! It was a reunion day for my one and only group of college friends. One friend is studying abroad in Germany and comes back to Korea once a year, and every time she does, we all get together. This time we decided to meet at Isu Station, a central transit hub in Seoul.
Tonight's dinner spot was a gopchang (grilled beef intestines) restaurant near Isu Station called Baekho Yangdaechang. My friend from Germany always picks a menu made up of things she can't easily eat over there, and since gopchang, yang (tripe), and daechang aren't common in Germany, I searched for good gopchang spots near Isu Station and booked Baekho Yangdaechang based on its great reviews.
We booked via Naver Reservation for a weekday Tuesday evening at 6pm. By 7pm the place was already full and a waitlist had formed... So if you're planning to visit, I really recommend booking through Naver Reservation to avoid waiting!!!

How to get to Baekho Yangdaechang from Isu Station
Get off at Isu Station and head toward the food alley, and you'll find Baekho Yangdaechang! The storefront interior is so pretty, too~ There were so many other good restaurants lining the way that I had a hard time resisting them all haha.

There's also a vertical Baekho Yangdaechang sign in the alley, so it's easy to spot~!

Just looking at the photos of the assorted platter, gopchang hot pot with fried rice, and gopchang before even walking in is already making my mouth water!!!! Can't wait to eat!!!

Seating at Baekho Yangdaechang and the 2-hour dining limit
There are square tables around the edges of the restaurant and a round table in the center. There were so many customers inside that I couldn't get a shot of the whole dining room...

Apparently if the place is full and there's a waitlist, dining time is limited to 2 hours!! When we arrived at 6pm the place was only about half full, but by 7pm it was completely packed!! So if you're planning to arrive later, I recommend making a reservation first. Two hours is plenty of time, so don't worry about it!

The menu: why gopchang isn't in the grilled assorted platter
The menu is broadly split into grilled dishes and hot pot dishes, and the grilled section is divided into assorted platters and individual orders. Just a heads-up: gopchang is not included in the assorted platter!

The basic side dishes were kimchi, pickled onion, and chive salad.

The assorted platter for 3: tripe, large intestine and sliced beef belly
We ordered the 3-serving assorted platter, which came with tripe (yang), intestines (daechang), and beef short rib (usamgyeop). Eating through it, it turned out to be quite a generous amount!

Our full spread was ready. The charcoal had already been lit ahead of time so everything came together quickly.

Our grilled assorted platter was complete! The staff grilled every piece themselves, so we didn't need to touch a thing — super convenient to just eat. Grilled over real charcoal, the fat rendered out and everything cooked up nice and light.

Highballs 2+1 and somaek with Terra Zero
They're also running a highball 2+1 promotion with three flavors — lemon, ginger ale, and Earl Grey — and you can even mix and match, which is perfect for sharing with friends~!!

But since my friend came all the way from Germany, we decided to go with the taste of Korea and drink somaek (beer mixed with soju) ^^ I've been cutting back on beer lately for health and diet reasons, so I was so happy to see they had Terra Zero!!! Terra Zero is not just zero alcohol but zero calories too, so it's perfect for anyone dieting!! It's got strong carbonation and a clean finish, so it was really delicious mixed into somaek ^^

While we were eating the side dishes and drinking somaek, the staff neatly grilled and even cut everything up into bite-sized pieces for us!

Cheers with somaek to celebrate meeting again after a year~~~

This soy-chili sauce they gave each of us individually is seriously delicious!! Eaten with cheongyang chili peppers, it cuts the richness and the sweet-salty soy sauce is a real treat haha.

Adding 2 servings of gopchang: springy and packed with gop
We were a little unsatisfied, so we thought about ordering jeongopchang (grilled gopchang mixed with cheese/vegetables) or fried rice, but since we're all people who like to get our protein in, we decided to just order more meat haha. So we added 2 servings of gopchang, which wasn't in the assorted platter.

The gopchang was also grilled entirely by the staff, so there was no need to even pick up the tongs haha.
Can you see how bouncy and packed the gopchang is inside? It was so light and clean-tasting, and the fat inside was rich and savory — really delicious!!! I don't usually eat grilled gopchang that often, but it was a delicious bowl of gopchang eaten at a really clean restaurant after a long while! My friend from Germany said she really enjoyed it too haha.
There are so many good restaurants near Isu Station, but with tasty food, a clean dining room, friendly staff, and service where they grill everything for you piece by piece!!! I highly recommend visiting for dinner or a group get-together near Isu Station~~!!!
