In short

Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Suwon Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi, where staff grill the meat on a 208-degree volcanic stone plate. Three friends shared a medium mixed platter, Cheongdo minari, grilled cheese with tteok wraps, palgo bibimbap, and extra pork belly, pairing the meat with salted seafood sauce and minari. It's a solid pick if you want to focus on conversation instead of grilling duty.

A BBQ restaurant where staff grill the meat for you

What I liked most on this visit, besides the taste, was the service of having the meat grilled for us and how clean the restaurant felt.

At a BBQ restaurant, eating good meat is great, but there's always that low-key stress over who's going to grill it. Here, staff took care of the grilling, so the three of us could just relax and chat over the meal.

What the three of us ordered

The mixed stone platter came out generously loaded from the start.

Watching the meat sizzle away on the stone plate, I thought — yeah, meat really is best eaten at a proper BBQ place.

The portion was good for three of us, and it was so good we ended up adding more pork belly.

Since staff grilled it for us, we didn't have to worry about doneness and could just enjoy it right when it hit the perfect moment. Best of all, we could focus on conversation while the meat cooked.

Pork belly dipped in salted seafood sauce

The grilled meat was delicious on its own, but this time we tried it dipped in salted seafood sauce (jeotgal sauce).

Adding the salty jeotgal sauce to the nutty grilled pork belly really brought out even more flavor! The savory pork belly and the umami of the sauce went so well together that I kept reaching for more.

It was fun how the taste shifted a little depending on the sauce or side you paired it with.

Pairing it with Cheongdo minari

We also ordered Cheongdo minari (water dropwort) that day. Eating just meat can get a little heavy, but the fragrant minari made everything feel fresher.

Piling a piece of minari on top of the meat added a crisp texture and fragrance that went great with the pork belly.

If you're a meat lover, I'd recommend trying it with minari too.

Grilled cheese + tteok wraps

Personally, the fun menu items were the grilled cheese and tteok wraps (rice cake wraps).

Grilling the cheese golden on the stone plate and eating it with the meat added a nutty, chewy touch. Wrapping the meat and sides together in tteok was also an interesting combo — fun to mix and match one by one.

Rather than just eating meat plain, using the various sides let the three of us enjoy a range of flavors.

Finishing with palgo bibimbap

Once we'd eaten our fill of meat, a finishing dish was a must. So we also ordered palgo bibimbap.

Wrapping up the meat course with spicy bibimbap — the fried rice or bibimbap at the end of a BBQ meal really is impossible to skip.

Sharing everything from meat to side dishes to the finishing course among the three of us made for a pretty full meal.

What I liked most: how clean it was

Honestly, cleanliness is one of the things I pay close attention to at a restaurant. What I especially liked about Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch was that not just the food but the whole space was kept spotless.

At BBQ places, tables and surroundings tend to get greasy easily from all the grilling, but the overall atmosphere here was so clean that we never felt uncomfortable during the meal.

Good food matters, but having a comfortable, pleasant space to eat in made our satisfaction even higher.

The three of us ate plenty, ordering the mixed stone platter, Cheongdo minari, grilled cheese and tteok wraps, palgo bibimbap, and extra pork belly on top — a meal where we enjoyed a whole spread of menu items together.
