Suyeong café for rainy-day shrimp oil pasta: Working Holiday Minrak

I’m a Suwon girl and an honorary Busan local who absolutely has to come play in Busan at least twice a year :-) This was a Gwangalli brunch spot I’d saved and finally visited—and it was soooo good that I wondered why I was only trying it for the first time now. It’s Working Holiday Minrak, where I want to go again, again, again next time too 😉

Is parking easy at Working Holiday Minrak in Gwangalli?

For parking at Working Holiday & Night Minrak, you can use the basement of the Badamaru building in Gwangalli. The space is huge, and there is even elevator parking, so the number of spaces didn’t seem like a concern at all!! You get one hour of free parking for every ₩10,000 spent :) Parking can be tricky around Gwangalli and Millak-dong, but Working Holiday Minrak has its own basement parking, which was super convenient. Even though our car is fairly large, the entrance ramp and spaces were wide and pleasant, so beginner drivers and drivers of large vehicles can park comfortably without worrying 👍🏻

Up to the 7th floor by elevator~! Working Holiday Minrak is on the 7th floor of the Badamaru building. Here begins my visit record of this atmospheric café in Millak-dong, Gwangalli, Busan, where I had a truly moving brunch in a moody rainy-day setting 🤏🏽🤏🏽🤏🏽

An interior that caught my eye more than the ocean view

Wow... what is this instant change in the air the moment you walk in?? Are we in Australia??? 🫢 Hahahaha

It’s a Gwangalli ocean-view café where you can see the sea beautifully. But once inside, the interior was so much more impressive than the ocean view that I almost felt like I couldn’t even see the sea! The café is quite spacious and open, and every little corner has thoughtfully arranged props and furniture. I spent ages wondering which seat would make the prettiest photos~

This Gwangalli brunch favorite in Busan was filled with such an atmospheric mood that you could get a lifetime shot wherever you photographed inside. Even though the rainy weather made the ocean scenery a little disappointing, the beautiful interior left me with absolutely no regrets and made for such a satisfying time.

A brunch café that’s great after a morning walk

Another major plus at Working Holiday Minrak is that it opens early, from 9 AM every day. So many people take early-morning walks or runs at Gwangalli Beach, and after a run along the shore, stopping by Working Holiday Minrak for a warm specialty coffee and a generously portioned but not-too-heavy Australian-style brunch felt like the perfect course.

At Working Holiday Minrak, you can enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza made with dough fermented in-house every day and fresh ingredients, varied Australian-style brunches, and richly flavored specialty coffee. The wine fridge was full of champagnes I love, and I lost my mind 🫠

Gwangan Bridge had vanished because of the rain (or so it seemed..). Once the weather clears, you can see the whole bridge and Gwangalli Beach, and I thought it would be great to watch the drone show from here too. A prime drone-show spot, Working Holiday & Night Minrak?? Haha

Panuozzo sandwich served with corn soup

The panuozzo sandwich came with corn soup and cost ₩17,000. It had mortadella ham, sunflower seeds, arugula, tomato, and cheese, and it was wonderfully light—a filling but easy breakfast choice!! So delicious... seriously delicious. Highly recommend...

My pick: the chicken avocado sandwich

This was my pick 😌🤏🏽🤏🏽🤏🏽 The chicken avocado sandwich was ₩18,000. A hearty protein meal of chicken breast tossed in basil sauce, fresh vegetables, and grilled bread! You could choose soup or salad on the side, and we chose the salad haha. This was seriously delicious too........ I do think it could have had more chicken breast, but overall the combination was plenty good..🤤

Shrimp oil pasta that was easy to eat in one bite

The shrimp oil pasta was ₩19,000. It was lightly spicy, which cut through the richness. The shrimp had been chopped into easy-to-eat pieces, so there was none of the hassle of cutting off tails or peeling shells—you could just eat it in one bite, which was so convenient. And the clams in it had been purged well too. It was just so delicious ㅠ Who is the chef here? Haha, come to Suwon with me.

If you leave a receipt review, they give you a complimentary financier that they bake and sell in the café~ The lemon pound cake looked delicious too 😌 Anyway, I’m planning another visit to conquer every menu item.

As we ate, the weather outside gradually cleared and the beach started to come into view!! Working Holiday Minrak is an ocean-view café and restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan, where it’s lovely to simply sit and gaze at the water. On a brilliantly sunny day, I think “I can’t even imagine how good the view must be” would be exactly the right thing to say 😍

After the meal, we wrapped things up by having another cheerful little fool-around session at the Gwangalli Hulk photo zone nearby^^.. This Gwangalli favorite opens at 9 AM, making it great for an early meal, and it has a spacious basement lot where even large cars can park comfortably. If you want delicious brunch with a pretty ocean view and atmospheric interior in Gwangalli, make sure to visit Working Holiday Minrak!
