Today I'm sharing my review of Magician JT's Science Lab, which I watched with my child. I've seen magic shows before, but this one was billed as a combination of science and magic rather than just tricks, so it seemed like something great to watch with a kid 😊

Parking and buying tickets at Pyeongsong Youth Culture Center

Parking at Pyeongsong Youth Culture Center is free for up to 3 hours. The lot had plenty of spaces.

You choose your seat at the box office next to the venue before entering. There's also a small stand next to the box office selling magic tools. A commemorative photo is a must — since I figured it'd be crowded on the way out, we took our photos before going in.

What time to arrive and how seats are chosen

Since it was a 2 pm show, we arrived around 1:40 pm. Because we got there a bit late, the front and center seats were mostly taken, so we chose aisle seats toward the back. Even so, the distance to the stage wasn't that far, so watching the show wasn't uncomfortable at all.

Before the show started, quizzes for kids kept appearing on the screen, so we had fun solving them while waiting for the show to begin.

What happens in the science magic show?

The show started right at 2 pm. I liked that scientific principles like air pressure and static electricity were introduced in a fun way through magic. It wasn't just a magic show that ends when it ends — kids get to learn about scientific phenomena alongside the tricks, which seemed to make it much more fun for them.

What I liked best was that it was an audience-participation show 😄 Instead of the magician performing alone, it felt like the kids and parents were building the show together with him. Because they got to actually take part, my kid stayed focused the whole time instead of getting bored.

My child's favorite was the cloud magic — a cloud popping into existence with a poof was so pretty and amazing. The one that amazed me the most was the math magic. I think I was even more baffled than my daughter, wondering how on earth that worked out 😆

After the 60-minute show: was it worth 25,000 won?

The hour really flew by while we were watching. Right up through the final encore, there were plenty of elements kids would love, so we enjoyed it all the way to the end. After the show, we wrapped things up with photos alongside Magician JT and Toto.

This show was more interesting than a typical magic show because it was combined with science. Watching my child actively answer questions and take part in the performance, I could tell she was really enjoying it. Even on the way home, she kept talking about all the science magic she'd seen that day. Seeing her keep talking about it even after leaving the venue, not just during the show, made me realize how memorable it must have been for her.
