A clean, well-atmosphered pork barbecue restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong, Cheongju, where staff grill everything for you from start to finish.
I visited Anmin Cheongju in Bongmyeong-dong today. The place is big, the seats are comfortable, and best of all — staff grill the meat for you from start to finish! So I got to eat in total comfort. There were lots of side dishes to pair with the meat, and the white fried rice I had at the end stuck in my memory :)

How big is the dining room at Anmin Cheongju?

Walking into Anmin Cheongju, the dining room is bigger than I expected. The space itself is generous and the seating is comfortable, so it was easy to eat without feeling rushed. Feels like it wouldn't get cramped even with a group :)
Does the meat smell linger? Inside Anmin Cheongju's ventilation
One thing that always nags at me at Korean BBQ places is the meat smell that clings to your clothes and hair. Anmin has a solid ventilation system, so even after finishing the meal, almost no meat smell lingered on my body or clothes. Honestly, this satisfied me more than I expected haha. The taste of the meat matters, but staying clean afterward is definitely a plus too.
Staff grill the pork and explain every cut

The best part of Anmin Cheongju! Staff grill the meat for you. From the moment it first hits the grill through flipping and cutting, they watched over every step and stayed with it until it was ready to eat. No need to fuss over the grill yourself — just chat with your group and wait comfortably :)

Once the meat was cooked, it wasn't just plated and left at that — staff explained which cut you were about to eat, one by one. (They grilled galmaegisal, then samgyeopsal, then gabrisal, in that order.) When you're eating several cuts together it's easy to lose track of which is which, but being told right away made it more fun to eat with a bit of extra knowledge. The grilling-plus-explanation service really stood out!
What side dishes come with the pork?

There was a good variety of side dishes to eat alongside the meat. Instead of dipping into just one sauce the whole time, you could mix and match a little of several.

Eating plain meat versus adding in the different sides gave a totally different feel haha. Being able to mix things up in different combinations was something I really liked.
How does Anmin Cheongju's white fried rice finish taste?

After the meat, I also tried the oddly named white fried rice. When you think of fried rice at a Korean BBQ place, kimchi or red-sauced fried rice usually comes to mind first, but here there's a dish literally called white fried rice. I ordered it out of curiosity because of the name at first, and it was actually delicious haha. It worked really well as a finishing dish after the meat. It's different from the typical BBQ-restaurant fried rice, so it's worth trying if you visit Anmin!

The dining room was spacious, the seats were comfortable, and I especially liked how well-ventilated it was — almost no meat smell lingered.
