Grilled pork skin at a Jeonpo-dong BBQ restaurant: Dwitdon Sanghoe

In short

Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch is a pork BBQ restaurant in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin, Busan, where one platter brings together several rare cuts of pork. Over dinner with a friend, the rare-cut platter went on the charcoal grill first, followed by pork skin grilled until crisp and dipped in seasoning powder, with spicy noodles and hot soup served as standard sides. Dwitdon Sanghoe makes for a more interesting meal than the usual samgyeopsal or mokssal (pork belly or pork neck).

Dwitdon Sanghoe (뒷돈상회)

There are just so many good places around Jeonpo these days that I always end up agonizing over where to eat whenever I go. This time I was craving meat for dinner with a friend, so I went searching for a good pork restaurant in Jeonpo and ended up at Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch. I usually love samgyeopsal (pork belly) or mokssal (pork neck), but that day I wanted something a bit different, and Dwitdon Sanghoe caught my eye because it lets you try a variety of pork rare cuts.

Inside Dwitdon Sanghoe: round tables and tablet ordering

Interior

Walking inside, the place was mostly set up with round tables, giving off that cozy, familiar pork-restaurant atmosphere. Each table had a proper grill and ventilation system installed, making it a perfect setup for grilling pork rare cuts.

Several round table seats arranged in the restaurant

With several round tables set up, it looked like a great spot for a light meat dinner with just one friend, or for a bigger group to come drink together.

Tablet ordering device set up at the table

Each table had a tablet ready, so ordering was easy. It was nice not having to call over staff — you could just take your time browsing the menu at your seat and order.

It's not just rare cuts — they also have samgyeopsal and mokssal sets, so if rare cuts aren't your thing, I'd recommend those sets haha.

Self-bar with kimchi and pickled vegetables

What is on the self-bar and in the standard side dishes?

On one side there was a self-bar set up like this. From kimchi to pickles to peppers, there were plenty of side dishes that go well with meat, so you could grab as much as you wanted of whatever ran low.

Generously set table of standard side dishes

Once we sat down, they set the table generously with the standard side dishes. Kimchi, tofu, pickled vegetables, and fresh veggies to go with the meat all came out, along with several kinds of dipping sauce.

And then, before the meat even arrived, this dish caught my eye big time! Spicy seasoned noodles with vegetables on top — just looking at it woke up my appetite. And this was just... a side dish.

Grilling a platter of rare pork cuts

Finally, the pork rare-cut platter arrived! It wasn't just one type of cut — it was arranged so you could try several different cuts at once, and it looked amazing from the start.

Pork rare cuts placed on the grill

They finally put the pork rare cuts on the grill one by one. Each cut had a different thickness and a different ratio of fat to lean meat, so even before grilling I was curious what the texture would be like.

Rare cuts grilling to a golden brown

Can you see how golden brown it's getting?! Each rare cut had slightly different chewiness or nuttiness, so it was fun comparing them one by one. This is exactly what makes a great Jeonpo pork restaurant.

Picking up a well-cooked piece of meat

I immediately grabbed a glistening, perfectly cooked piece of meat. Golden brown on the outside, moist inside — the more I chewed, the nuttier the flavor got.

Grilled meat topped with scallions and vegetables

The meat alone was delicious, but piling on the tangy-spicy dressed scallions and vegetables gave it a whole different flavor. The nutty pork paired with crisp vegetables cleaned up the palate, which worked especially well with the fattier cuts. As you'd expect from a great Jeonpo pork restaurant, there was a nice variety of accompaniments to go with the meat :)

Hot soup bubbling away

Spicy noodles and hot soup with the pork

A while into eating meat, you can't skip the hot soup! It came out bubbling and warm, perfect for a spoonful here and there between bites of meat.

It wasn't just broth — the ingredients inside were pretty substantial too.

A bite of spicy noodles topped with grilled meat

Of course you have to top the spicy noodles with a well-grilled piece of pork haha. The tangy-spicy seasoning went really well with the nutty flavor of the meat.

A rare cut dipped in sauce

Last up: a golden-grilled rare cut dipped right into the sauce for a clean bite!

Pork skin grilling over charcoal

Charcoal-grilled pork skin, the best part of the meal

This time I also grilled some pork skin golden brown over the charcoal. Getting to enjoy the chewy skin too made this feel like the perfect Jeonpo pork restaurant for trying a wide variety of pork dishes.

Well-grilled skin dipped right into the seasoning powder for a bite! The chewy texture combined with a nutty flavor made it a great special treat to enjoy at Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch :)

Getting to try a variety of pork rare cuts all at once made for a different kind of fun than the usual samgyeopsal or mokssal — Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch!
