Jeju Noheung-dong chicken kalguksu for solo diners: Deureomtong
In short
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is a chicken-focused Korean restaurant on Wonnoheung-ro in Noheung-dong, Jeju City, in the alley behind Eunhuine Haejangguk. Dining alone, the ₩16,000 dakhanmari kalguksu (whole chicken with hand-cut noodles) and the ₩11,000 crispy chili-chive pancake were simmered right on the drum furnace at the table, and one whole chicken was generous enough to be too much for one person. For a filling meal at a fair price in Jeju, Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is a solid pick.

What I ate at Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang in Noheung-dong
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is a Korean pub-style restaurant in Noheung-dong, near Jeju International Airport. This time I ordered the dakhanmari kalguksu (whole chicken noodle soup), ₩16,000, and the crispy chive pancake with green chili, ₩11,000. I'd tried to go here before and missed it, and there used to be a branch in Ulsan that closed down, so I was extra happy to finally make it.
I went for a protein boost and had a great time :) Finished the whole chicken myself — protein topped up for the day. Jeju has all kinds of great restaurants, but if you're looking for a hearty, filling meal, this is a really solid option too. Personally I think the value for money is quite good. It's technically a dakdoritang (braised spicy chicken) place, but I'd highly recommend the dakhanmari too!

Location: the alley behind Eunhuine Haejangguk, open until 3 a.m.
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is located at 53 Wonnoheung-ro, 1st floor, Jeju City, Jeju, right behind Eunhuine Haejangguk. It's a busy alley — I was surprised to see so many people, both Chinese and Korean tourists alike. This alley is honestly no joke!

Fitting for such a busy alley, they stay open until 3 a.m. — you can really feel the dedication (or maybe not exactly 'passion,' haha). They mainly serve dakdoritang but had all kinds of chicken dishes on offer.

The drum-furnace table setup and roomy seats
Inside Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang, the tables are set up with actual drums as furnaces, which is fun to look at and a decent bit of visual interest on top of the food.

The seating is spacious, and the drum furnaces feel like some kind of signature feature — like stepping into a valley campsite. Confirmed: both taste and visuals are on point here.

Menu prices and the self-serve side dish corner
The menu shows around ₩16,000 per serving. The various side dishes are reasonably priced with generous portions too, bb. The chive pancake with green chili is legit!
The basic side dishes come set up like this! Good composition, good taste, and it's self-serve — the self-serve corner even has braised chili peppers. The braised potatoes were especially good and paired really well with the dakhanmari.

This dipping sauce (dadegi) is essential to dakhanmari, and they set it up properly — it's the heart of both the flavor and the style. It seemed popular with foreign diners too, as a kind of customizable spice level, which I found interesting!

Dakhanmari kalguksu, ₩16,000: how to simmer it
The dakhanmari at Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang comes out and needs about 10 more minutes of simmering before eating — and honestly, thinking it all through, there's nothing quite like it. Loaded with chives, which is exactly my style!

The chicken and garlic broth base builds up its flavor and aroma beautifully — and the scent of the broth is a real highlight, no doubt about it!

Slowly simmering, and the visual is great. The chives' slight spice wraps around your mouth nicely — lots of really good points here.

The broth bubbles away like this, and the aroma that builds up is impressive — and to avoid ruining the taste of the dakhanmari, they have you add the kalguksu noodles later(!)

When the timer goes off, it's done. Bubbling away, the broth is properly rich, and you just scoop it into a bowl. Eating alone, the portion was honestly a lot :)

How big is the chicken, and is it good value?
The broth is rich and the chicken pieces are pretty large, so highly recommend if you like big, hearty portions. I heard somewhere else charges ₩70,000 for a similar-style dakdoritang, so this place's value for money is genuinely great.

Was the ₩11,000 crispy chili-chive pancake worth it?
The chive pancake with green chili starts at ₩11,000 and builds up flavor and aroma... made with little flour, giving it this savory, crispy style that's impressive — honestly, exactly the kind of thing that makes you crave makgeolli (rice wine).

How many people should go together?
Add the kalguksu noodles and you've got a complete meal. Among all the restaurants in Noheung-dong, if you want to eat something hearty and share a generous bowl, this is a solid choice too. I'd recommend going with 2 people!!

A Noheung-dong favorite loved by locals for its wide range of chicken dishes — that's a wrap on my Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang record!
