Kyungsung University restaurant Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap: clean pork soup and dumplings

On a day I was craving something hot, I went to Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch for a filling meal.
I've been back here several times already — it's a place I've enjoyed before, so I visited again with high expectations.
That day, our group ordered two bowls of dwaeji gukbap and one plate of dumplings!

Close to Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station
Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch is located about 260m from Exit 1 of Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station on Line 2.
Coming out of Exit 1, turn onto Yongso-ro at the first intersection and keep going straight — it's about a 2-minute walk from the station, so access was easy.
It's about 4 minutes from Kyungsung University's main gate and about 9 minutes from Pukyong National University's main gate, so it looked like a good spot for students to grab a meal.
Since it's open late, this Nam-gu, Busan pork soup restaurant is also handy for office workers needing a hearty meal after overtime or anyone finishing up dinner appointments late.

A bright, clean space
Even at night, the brightly lit sign was easy to spot.
Stepping inside, the bright and clean atmosphere was the first thing I noticed.
With several tables set up, it looked like a good option for solo dining as well as meals with friends, family, or groups.
There were plenty of other diners during our visit too. The tables were fairly spaced out and there was a tablet for ordering, making things convenient.
Baby chairs were also available, so it seemed like a good spot to visit with kids.
A self-serve bar with as much as you want
On one side there was a self-serve bar stocked with kimchi, kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), chives, onion, chili, garlic, salted shrimp, and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste).
You take only what you'll eat, and can always go back for more — no need to be shy about adding whatever suits your taste.
I especially loved that rice and noodle refills were free.
The noodle refills in particular were conveniently portioned into single servings.
Being able to enjoy generous rice and noodles alongside a bowl of soup is a real plus for anyone looking for a hearty meal near Kyungsung University.

Dwaeji gukbap with no gamey smell
The dwaeji gukbap I'd been waiting for arrived bubbling hot in a stone bowl.
The milky broth held generous portions of pork and green onion.
What I liked most was that there wasn't a hint of the gamey smell pork can sometimes have.
The broth wasn't heavy or murky either — it was clean and savory, and I kept reaching for another spoonful without hesitation.
Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap says it uses cuts like pork shoulder, belly, and neck free of gaminess to make a clear, clean Busan-style pork soup.
Since each order is cooked fresh when it comes in, I was able to eat it piping hot from start to finish.

I also liked being able to adjust the flavor to taste with dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste), pepper, and salted shrimp.
I first enjoyed the clean flavor of the broth on its own, then added chives and rice.
After that, I added the free noodle refill, and as the rich broth soaked into the noodles, it became a whole different treat.
Being able to refill rice for free too made this a satisfying pork soup restaurant near Kyungsung University for anyone with a big appetite or looking for a hearty meal.
Fresh kimchi that hit the spot exactly
When I go to a restaurant, I care about the kimchi almost as much as the main dish.
The kimchi here tasted fresh and crisp, like it had just been made — it was completely my style!
It had just the right amount of spice along with a bright, lively flavor that paired really well with the clean pork soup.
Alternating a bite of soup with a bite of kimchi, I kept reaching for more.
The kkakdugi was also good between bites of soup, and being able to freely grab more side dishes from the self-serve bar was even more satisfying.
It felt like real effort went into it, knowing these weren't factory-made sides but house-made banchan down to the smallest dish.
Dumplings that paired well with the soup
I also added a plate of dumplings to go with the pork soup.
One plate came with 8 pieces, which was plenty to share between two people.
The wrappers were moist and the filling was plump — delicious even on its own, and dipping them in the accompanying soy sauce added even more savory flavor.
Pairing a dumpling with each bite of hot soup made the meal feel even more substantial.
For when you need a hearty meal
From clean, gaminess-free dwaeji gukbap to juicy dumplings and crisp fresh kimchi, I enjoyed everything at Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch!
I especially appreciated being able to add rice and noodles for free, which made for a full and satisfying meal.
