Suwon Korean BBQ with doenjang sulbap: Yeongpo Hwa-ro
In short
Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch is a premium charcoal-grilled hanwoo restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. We grilled a ₩49,000, 150 g hanwoo assortment per person, then finished with ₩7,000 doenjang sulbap and complimentary patbingsu. Verdict: a comfortable choice for enjoying beef itself over charcoal.

If you’re looking for charcoal-grilled beef in Ingye-dong
Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch (영포화로 인계점), a great charcoal-grilled beef spot in Ingye-dong, Suwon ♫ Ingye-dong has so many meat restaurants that it is hard to decide where to go, but I was curious about this place because it is a premium restaurant where you grill meat over a real brazier. It is also near Suwon City Hall Station and Na Hye-seok Street, so it was an easy place to make a dinner plan in Ingye-dong :)

There are plenty of parking spaces right in front! They asked us to leave our car keys at the counter, haha.

The kitchen was full of meat being aged! There were private rooms too! They were clean rooms that looked nice for eating while chatting.

Even the main dining area, not just the private rooms, had generous space between tables, so it was not noisy at all, haha. There were high chairs too.

Ordering the hanwoo assortment and doenjang sulbap
We ordered ✔ hanwoo assortment (150 g), ₩49,000 × 2 people ✔ doenjang sulbap, ₩7,000!

The receipt-review benefit was really good. One participant gets spicy pollack mixed noodles or mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth), two get fresh live abalone, three get ramyeon, and four get one serving of beef brisket!

Because we had reserved ahead, the table was set first. I especially liked that myeonginamul (pickled garlic leaves) and cucumber were ready for us. Having refreshing sides between bites of beef really cleared the palate.

Bean sprout and scallion salad arrived too. Then they brought over the charcoal.
Hanwoo assortment with a touch of charcoal aroma
I really love charcoal-brazier grilling because the charcoal gives the meat a subtle aroma and brings out its flavor even more ☺️
The glowing hanwoo assortment, haha. We could try several cuts at once, grilling one piece at a time, dipping it in sauce, and enjoying it slowly with the side dishes.

Here comes the meat >_<

The meat looked so fresh even at a glance. They said the selection was designed to let you naturally enjoy the beef’s savory flavor and tenderness rather than cover it with a heavy seasoning, and it really was.

Let’s dig in!!

The ventilation around the brazier worked well too, so we could eat in relative comfort even while grilling.

We ate without stopping, haha. A little wasabi and salt—yum yum. The heat was strong, so everything cooked quickly too, haha. We grilled just two pieces at a time so they would not get cold. We finished with sirloin! It was not rich or greasy at all, and it was completely delicious :)
Finishing with warm doenjang sulbap and patbingsu
For dessert, we ordered doenjang sulbap, haha. This rice soup has a comforting doenjang (fermented soybean paste) base, so it went well with the meat and made for a satisfying finish.

Especially after having plenty of meat, warm doenjang sulbap made the meal feel perfectly complete, haha.

And what was really nice was that they even gave us old-fashioned patbingsu (shaved ice with sweet red beans) on the house! It had that familiar, nostalgic old-fashioned patbingsu feeling, so we ended the meal happy right to the last bite 😊
If you want beef in Ingye-dong, Suwon, Yeongpo Hwa-ro is a great place to grill quality beef over a brazier and enjoy the meat itself!
