Cheongdam-dong pufferfish spot Bogi-o Boguk, enjoying a full course set. On the last day of a 2-night-3-day Seoul trip with my boyfriend, I wanted a hearty meal before heading back down to Gwangju, so I went to Bogi-o Boguk, known as a pufferfish restaurant in Cheongdam-dong.
My boyfriend and I visited at 2:10pm on a Sunday! I was worried we'd hit break time since it was past lunch, but Bogi-o Boguk runs with no break time, so we could eat at a relaxed pace.
Let me introduce Bogi-o Boguk, a Cheongdam-dong spot where you can taste a whole range of pufferfish dishes in one sitting — from pufferfish soup to bulgogi to karaage.

Where is Bogi-o Boguk, and does it have a break time?
Bogi-o Boguk is about 625m from Exit 13 of Cheongdam Station. Once you reach the building, you'll see a sign directing you to Bogi-o Boguk on the 2nd floor. If you're looking for a place for a late lunch in Cheongdam-dong, I'd recommend it — with no break time, it's great to visit even at an odd hour.

Weekday lunch deal: magpie pufferfish soup for 11,000 won
✅ Weekday lunch magpie pufferfish soup, ₩11,000. If you visit on a weekday lunch, keep an eye out for the limited special menu too! From 12pm to 1pm on weekdays only, you can get magpie pufferfish soup for ₩11,000. It's limited to 50 bowls a day and may end early once ingredients run out.
You can also try Gyeongsangdo-style earthenware pot pufferfish soup, plus pufferfish sashimi, karaage, bulgogi and more — this Cheongdam-dong spot also does course meals really well.

1. Inside Bogi-o Boguk: clean, comfortable, room available
The inside of Bogi-o Boguk was brighter and more spacious than I expected. Wood-tone tables paired with soft lighting in traditional patterns gave it an overall clean, calm atmosphere.
The tables are spacious too, so laying out a full pufferfish course doesn't feel cramped — it's good for family meals or as a meeting spot in Cheongdam-dong. ✅ There's also a private room.

Vinegar-chili sauce (chojang) and soy sauce were set on every table.
2. What you get for booking Bogi-o Boguk on Naver
You can book Bogi-o Boguk through Naver Reservation! Booking that way gets you a free corkage coupon for one bottle. On weekends there's also a 10% off family course coupon. (Usable when ordering a course meal for 3 or more people, cannot be combined with other coupons.)

Neatly plated side dishes. First came a refreshing salad along with the banchan (side dishes) — stir-fried fish cake, stir-fried anchovies, diced radish kimchi, and pickled perilla leaves, all clean and well put together.
3. The Bogi-o course set, 37,000 won per person
My boyfriend and I ordered the Bogi-o course set for two, which lets you taste a good range of pufferfish dishes. The Bogi-o course requires a minimum of 2 people, priced at ₩37,000 per person, ₩74,000 total for two.
Bogi-o course set includes:
- Salad
- Pufferfish bulgogi
- Pufferfish karaage
- Milbok (mild pufferfish) soup
- Tea
From bulgogi to fried karaage to pufferfish soup, all in one — if you want to enjoy pufferfish dishes in variety, try the course!

4. Pufferfish bulgogi: smoky char with a spicy kick
The pufferfish bulgogi came in a large bowl, packed with pufferfish meat, bean sprouts, perilla leaves, green onions and more vegetables. The pufferfish and vegetables are quickly stir-fried over high heat, giving you that smoky char combined with spicy seasoning.
The plump pufferfish meat had absorbed the seasoning well while still keeping its clean, mild flavor.

5. Pufferfish karaage, the favorite of the meal
The dish my boyfriend and I enjoyed most in the Bogi-o course: pufferfish karaage. It's a whole karaage made by lightly coating domestic wild-caught magpie pufferfish in starch and frying it whole — golden brown and looking delicious from the start.
Splitting it open with chopsticks, the thin, crispy batter revealed pure white pufferfish meat packed inside. The batter wasn't thick, so it wasn't greasy at all — crispy outside, thick and moist inside.
I could really taste the clean, savory flavor of the pufferfish, and dipping it lightly in the salt served alongside brought out its subtle sweetness even more.

I never knew fried pufferfish could be this good! The karaage was seriously the best dish. It also went great as a drinking snack, so my boyfriend and I ended up enjoying some daytime drinks with it.
6. Milbok soup: clear, clean and refreshing
After the spicy pufferfish bulgogi and crispy karaage, the warm milbok soup arrived. It was generously filled with water dropwort and enoki mushrooms, plus big, thick chunks of pufferfish meat.
The broth was clear yet refreshing and clean-tasting. Without anything overpowering, it had a clean umami drawn out from the pufferfish and vegetables, and it settled my stomach nicely.

The pufferfish meat wasn't dry at all, and each piece was a good size, which made eating it a real pleasure. Since it was the day after my boyfriend and I had been drinking, it was perfect as a hangover soup. The broth was so refreshing my spoon kept going back for more!

There's also a coffee vending machine on site.
From pufferfish bulgogi to crispy karaage to refreshing milbok soup — a hearty, satisfying spread at this Cheongdam-dong pufferfish restaurant.
