Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch

Hi everyone 😄 Today's post is about Mirim Yangjang, a Jeonpo restaurant that ticks every box — atmosphere, vibe, taste, and novelty, all at once!

Mirim Yangjang in Jeonpo: the exterior and how long the wait is
Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch is a Chinese-style bar and restaurant tucked into an alley in Jeonpo-dong at 37 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil, Busanjin-gu. Around 6:30pm on a Sunday, we walked straight in with no wait at all. Weekend or holiday evenings might have a line, so keep that in mind!
Even the poster at the entrance had a certain something to it 😃 The retro sign, neon lighting, and small, unusual doorway made it feel like stepping into an alley from a Chinese noir film! The exterior fit perfectly with Jeonpo's signature sense of style. Jeonpo really is a hot neighborhood, and every young owner's distinctive interior design caught my eye — half the fun was just walking around and looking. Haha.
Here are the business hours. They're open for lunch too and offer delivery, so keep that in mind!

Inside Mirim Yangjang: atmosphere and seating
The first floor has both bar-style seats and table seating, and the second floor is also in use, so the place is quite large. Stepping inside, the dim lighting adds to the exotic feel — like walking into some restaurant straight out of a Hong Kong noir film... (I've never actually been to Hong Kong.)

"For your surprisingly beautiful everyday life" — that's the philosophy behind Mirim Yangjang, a place meant to give beautiful, wonderful people a good space, good food, and good time. The staff were kind too, and it really felt like being treated to something special in a great space 😄

Here's a look at the Peking ducks hanging inside Mirim Yangjang in Jeonpo. Bare Peking ducks under red light... sorry in advance, I'm going to eat you.

Ordering by QR code table order: what's on the menu?
No need to shout for the owner at Mirim Yangjang — as long as you have a smartphone, you can order right from your table with the table-order system. Scan the QR code and a screen pops up with the full menu and ordering options!

Here's the menu. From the restaurant's signature Peking duck to mala tang (spicy numbing hot pot), fried eggplant, mapo tofu, yurinki (crispy fried chicken with tangy sauce), and more — there's a wide variety of dishes! There are also meal options like mala tang, fried rice, and mala noodles, so it's great for sharing several dishes and having a full meal too.

Here are the basic side dishes that come out before the main event, to go along with the Peking duck.

Here's the order from yours truly, the big eater! Food only, no drinks, and it still came to ₩61,000...!!

That effortlessly stylish interior...

How do the mala lagu noodles taste?
I was curious, so I ordered the mala lagu noodles at Mirim Yangjang. The chewy noodles come loaded with a rich mala sauce and distinctive spice flavor, giving them a taste that's clearly different from your average stir-fried noodles. The tingling mala aroma and the salty, deep sauce soaked into the noodles perfectly — distinctive and so delicious. It felt like an upgraded version of mala xiangguo!

Noodles, but a type I couldn't name. Even slurping them, the sauce didn't splatter. Haha.

The signature Peking duck and how to wrap it
Mirim Yangjang's signature dish is the Peking duck. It looks seriously appetizing from the moment it arrives, neatly sliced. The glossy brown skin and moist meat come out together, and you're meant to top it with cucumber and scallion, then add sauce! The duck skin is crispy, with a rich, luxurious oiliness that comes through the more you chew 🙂 The clean-tasting duck meat, paired with a mysterious sweet-and-salty sauce and crunchy scallions, cuts through any greasiness completely!

Here's the Peking duck skin and meat. The skin's unusual texture and luxurious flavor were incredibly refreshing!

The wrapper — kind of like rice paper.

Wrapping the Peking duck up with cucumber, scallion, and the prepared sauce is so good! I wrapped mine up like a proper pro. Peking duck, which I'd heard rarely succeeds in Korea, apparently finally succeeded here at Mirim Yangjang...

It has a flavor clearly set apart from your typical smoked duck.
The 8,000-won duck fried rice is a must-order
And here's the star of the show, the duck fried rice. At an affordable ₩8,000, the flavor is absolutely absurd... You have to order it. It's not optional.

With fluffy rice grains and duck meat mixed in, the texture is great and the seasoning is spot on. Highly recommend!!

Today, the big eater demolished the Peking duck...
