Suwon café with a decaf latte and jambon ciabatta: Caffeine Focus
In short
Caffeine Focus is a three-story bakery café with fortress views on Changnyongdaero 80beon-gil in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. On a weekday half-day off, the visit brought a decaf café latte and a ciabatta sandwich filled with jambon, mozzarella and arugula — freshly made, warm and so large that half of it was already filling. Between the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the fortress wall and the good coffee, Caffeine Focus had the prettiest view of any café in Haenggung-dong.

A weekday half-day off in Haenggung-dong: getting to Caffeine Focus and where to park
The weather has been so nice lately. Autumn is really the perfect season for a stroll around Haenggung-dong.

On weekdays you can even park in the resident-priority spots, so I took a half-day off and rushed over — here's my review of Caffeine Focus, a Haenggung-dong café.

A pretty café in Haenggung-dong with a fortress view — whenever friends visit Suwon, I always take them to Haenggung-dong, and each time I'm on the hunt for a café with a fortress-wall view.

Caffeine Focus is a brand-new café, so the space was so pretty and the vibe was really nice. Walking along, you spot a yellow balloon — the building right next to it was Caffeine Focus.

There's an outdoor terrace section too, plus plenty of bar tables and regular tables to choose from. On a nice day like this, it was a perfect café for a date.

What's on the menu at Caffeine Focus? Ciabatta sandwiches come first
Caffeine Focus has a wide range of signature drinks, coffee, and non-coffee options. I liked that the beans could be switched to decaf. There were smoothies, milk tea, all kinds of drinks — but no matter what, the main menu item here is the ciabatta.

It's basically a bakery café that makes its own ciabatta — even on a weekday, you can still buy fresh ciabatta.

You can also eat a ciabatta sandwich there, so I ordered one right away. A sandwich made with soft, chewy ciabatta — I mean, come on, how could that not be delicious!!!

There was also a vanilla bean Basque cheesecake, and a granola Greek yogurt bowl. Beyond the ciabatta items, they had banana muffins, egg scones, and carrot pound cake — the bakery lineup here felt really solid.

The third-floor fortress view through floor-to-ceiling windows, floor by floor
Caffeine Focus is a three-story café, and each floor has its own atmosphere. I liked that you could see the fortress wall from wherever you sat, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. There were people reading, people working, groups of friends, and couples on dates — a whole mix.

A café with an actual fortress wall view?! I've tried a ton of cafés in Haenggung-dong, and this one had the prettiest view of them all. And on top of that, the coffee was delicious too. I ordered a decaf café latte and it was genuinely tasty — nutty, rich, so good!!

How big is the jambon ciabatta sandwich, and what's inside?
The ciabatta sandwich at Caffeine Focus takes a bit of time to prepare, but they send an alert to your phone when it's ready, which made ordering easy. They brought out the sandwich freshly made and still warm, which made it taste even better.

The cup was so pretty too, which added a lot to the mood — coming here, you just can't help but take photos to post on social media haha. Kind of wanted to brag about it..haha

The sandwich turned out way bigger and heartier than I expected. I'd thought the price was a bit high just because it's ciabatta-based, but once I saw the actual size, the price made sense. Even eating half of it left me full..haha

Taking a weekday half-day off to soak up autumn with a trip to Haenggung-dong put me in a great mood and felt genuinely healing — and above all, the coffee and sandwich were delicious, so I was satisfied.

The inside was completely packed with fillings too. The owner's own handmade sourdough ciabatta was loaded with jambon, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomato, arugula, and basil pesto. Savory but not too salty — perfect for enjoying as brunch.

I'd worried the seasoning might be bland, but it was so good I devoured the whole thing — genuinely delicious. Looking at these photos again makes me want to eat it once more.
The owner was friendly, and on a weekday I was able to park right in front of the store in the resident-priority parking area. This was my review of Caffeine Focus, a pretty and brand-new café in Haenggung-dong that's perfect for healing while gazing at the fortress wall in autumn weather.
